Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

@FloatingFeather have tried distracting myself with some uni stuff and watched some tv with my sister. SH thoughts are still there, hoping that contacting SANE would help with the intense feelings. Feelings of shame have taken over my brain.

@Paperdaisy and @Jynx 💖

I got through pretty quickly. It was helpful. It was about preventing it from flaring up into a full crisis. I know how bad things can get for me, I was on the edge just over a week ago, I didn’t want to that stage.

People can tell me it wasn’t my fault but it feels like it. Logic and emotions don’t match up, I hope one day things will be less confusing. I wish I could forget how my body felt, but I can’t. I guess all I can do is try to move forward.

@creative_writer logic brain and emotional brain are pretty different hey! Emotion brain evolved first, it's all our instincts and survival responses, logic brain evolved last and is all our decision-making and rationality. When emotional brain takes over, logic brain switches off - totally normal!

I hope one day you gain that clarity too, and can move forward and upward 💜💖

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@Jynx. Human brains are complex and often make no sense. It is true, when emotions turn on, it’s hard to be rational. Self-talk does help, not doubting it. But I think body based therapies like emdr and somatic therapy have a place too. I am going to do a bit more EMDR, it’s amazing how much gets stored in the body. I’ve had issues with chronic pain for so long. A good thing about EMDR is that you don’t even have to talk about things in great detail. My psych is still going to continue schema therapy too alongside.

Just had dinner, so feeling a bit better. I’m on one those people who gets “hangry”.

♥️♥️

Hi @Former-Member. I am trying to make progress, it’s a journey full of ups and downs. Today may not be the best day, but I suppose being physically ill doesn’t help anyones mental health. I hope you are doing well 💖.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

@creative_writer ooh nice, I've heard very good things about EMDR, I've been thinking about maybe getting trained. Good to know it's had such a positive outcome for you so far.

Haha I get hangry too! Hope having a wee snack helps 😊💜

@Jynx 💖
I have felt a huge weight lift from EMDR sessions before, it’s hard to explain. I had dinner 🙂. Do you know what you will have for dinner?

I’m okay and safe, I haven’t done anything risky. But I’ve done something else weird, I don’t know how to feel it.
