Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

Am I just being avoidant or is this anxiety based on the truth. So I have this tendency of wanting to avoid having close relationships because I find it hard to feel safe in relationships, I want to be fully independent and not need people because that would mean I’m too dependent and will get hurt. Another part of me wants relationships, it’s so confusing.

I wish my brain could stop being so anxious and depressed. I may not be on the edge, but it’s still not good.

My social worker and pastor tells me we are wired for relationships. We're made to connect. Her husband, also a pastor, reminds me that of all the things God made and called it good there was but one thing not good: a solitary human. And so he made a partner...

@Kyle1, it's true they say we are wired for relationships. I'm not Christian, but even as a Muslim I believe God does create partners for humans for a reason. Maybe I am just scared. I know healing also involves reaching out for support, but it's just scary and hard to be vulnerable. I could go to a therapy room, feel teary, and even my psych would notice, but I can't be vulnerable because crying doesn't feel okay. I learnt that I was never meant to be vulnerable around people, so then, I often have the most painful silent sobs in bed 😭.

That is so hard to take @creative_writer

I know exactly what that's like and it's so painful... 😪

@Kyle1, it hurts a lot to sob silently, but it’s the only safe way I know to cry. I need to let it out, I just don’t know if I’ll have the energy by the time I’m in bed. I haven’t had a good cry for so long. It’s hard to let it out when you live with other people.

I hope you can let it out quickly, atleast...

Lost in despair is like hypoxia. 😓🙏

@Kyle1, I need to release all the grief life has given me. I need to grieve everything I’ve lost and cannot ever get back. I can’t be who I used to be.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

sounds like you are accepting the process... @creative_writer

I'm still in dismay.

Either way, it's not easy is it...

@Kyle1, I’ve realised, I cannot carry this anger around forever. I was angry and hurt, I wanted revenge but the anger has cooled, I know everything has a purpose and it all happens by design. Even if I grow as a person and become more resilient and stronger, it doesn’t change what I’ve lost 😭.
