Piecing the shattered glass together

Piecing the shattered glass together

I decided to start a new thread, my new chapter in my life is going to focus on healing my traumas, building resilience and self-worth and taking the steps of achieving mood stability. I am praying this year will be better than the last. Last year the SI got really intense, was so close to losing hope and I felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces like shattered glass. It all still feels overwhelming, I have a long way to go on my healing journey, but I think I'm starting to feel a bit more hopeful about the future.

I am really proud of you for getting up this morning, I know that some days it can be really hard, but you've done it ❤️ @creative_writer

I hope that your migraine doesn't flare up today, try keep the glasses on as much as you can. That is exciting that you are at uni tomorrow!

@amber22, finding it hard to get started. This anxiety is so overwhelming. I feel like anxiety makes me more prone to having migraines, and having a migraine makes me prone to anxiety. I guess I'll take it slowly.

❤️

@creative_writer I totally get that. When I'm anxious I get quite bad nausea and headaches. Then those physical symptoms make me even more anxious.

Take it easy and be kind to yourself.

Ah yes I know that cycle all too well! Take it easy today and put one foot in front of the other ❤️ Maybe try some grounding or breath work techniques throughout the day to try and reduce your anxiety a little bit?

@hanami, @amber22, it does become a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation. Will try to use some breathing and grounding techniques. I spoke to SANE right now, and it helped a bit, but I think I am experiencing derealisation so felt miles apart from the counsellor. Still feels miles apart from everyone. I want to scream and cry, but think I have forgotten how to let it all out.

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Definitely a bit of the chicken-egg situation. Take it one step at a time today, maybe try and fit some breathing and grounding techniques in between things that you're doing today to make sure that you're taking time for yourself. I know the feeling of derealisation and it can be a scary and confusing one, so maybe some grounding would help just a bit? @creative_writer Sitting with you while you're feeling like this ❤️

@amber22, I wish I didn't feel so alone. I'm surrounded by other people but feel even lonelier. I wish I could just fall and cry on someone and feel truly loved for who I am. I don't know how to feel worthy when I feel as though nobody would notice if I disappeared. I am safe right now, though.

Dark thoughts are getting stronger, I wish I could shut them out, I’m sorry if I’ve let anyone down. I don’t know if I should reach out again, but I already have spoken to SANE this morning. I know I always have the option to text for an extra counselling session from my counsellor from a service I’ve been using, but I can’t help but feel like maybe other people need it more. I already just had a psych appointment yesterday. I want to be able to deal with stuff alone. But I’ve already started engaging in red flag behaviour.

Hey @creative_writer 💛

I can hear how tough things are right now. It is a powerful thing that you have been able to recognise that you may be engaging in some "red flag behaviours" and think about what other supports you might benefit from to help get through this time.

Feeling that you deserve support it one of the hardest things and can be such a barrier for many of us. We can always disqualify ourselves with "well I am sure someone has it worse than me, right?". Giving ourselves permission to reach out and not deal with it alone can be hard work.

I really hope that you can give yourself that permission today. You truly do deserve it.

It sounds like you are linked in with some good supports but just in case you need to talk right away, I will drop these numbers here:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Samaritans: 135 247

If in immediate danger: 000

Take good care of yourself today 💛

Re: Piecing the shattered glass together

Hey @creative_writer, I just wanted to stop by and say I'm so sorry to hear you've felt that way, though I can relate. Feeling unwanted, uncared for, unloved, replaceable or like you don't matter absolutely sucks, and it can feel almost impossible to truly believe it when genuine expressions of care and love come in because you're so used to the opposite, almost to the point of expecting it.

Wishing you whatever strength and courage may be useful to get through this tough time. Take good care, reach out to your supports if you need (a mentor told me once that if the thought even crosses my mind that maybe I should reach out, to just reach out before I question whether or not I actually should) and if you're feeling up to it, feel free to join the Peer Group Chat tomorrow night (more here) ❤️ In the mean time, holding hope for better times ahead and know many of us are sitting with you as you ride out this wave, myself included 💙
