Christmas

Christmas

With only 8 weeks till Christmas I am starting to stress. How on earth do I get enough money to buy gifts. It is the busiest time at work and then all the tourists come down for the christmas period. They are rude, want to be served straight away and have no respect. Even on the roads it is terrible.

But christmas - OMG i can't believe there is only 8 weeks. I really don't know how we are going to do it this year.

With no extended family or parents to celebrate and mother in law in aged care - it will be very quiet. What gets me all the time is customers ask me 'what are you doing for christmas' and I just say 'oh no nothing much". this is the first time in 5 yrs that hubby won't be working. he works in a hospital kitchen so if christmas falls on a weekday he has to work.

Panic has hit me. How do others on here cope with the lead up to Christmas? And also on Christmas Day, would does everyone do?

Stressing already, not much pays before Christmas.

Re: Christmas

Hi @BlueBay 💕

Starting to pick up presents now sounds like a good idea. You might be able to find presents on special. They don't need to be expensive. I always try and think of something nice but practical, something they need.

I feel awful because my girl hasn't liked Christmas for years, because of family dysfunction. I've always let her make the choice if we should join them. Last year we didn't. Some years we do. One year I got drunk, because I was so stressed about being with them. I was a happy drunk, got some up dancing, hehe! But I don't drink anymore, so that's not going to happen. 😂

This year I'll plan something different, without them. I can't face them this year. It's too stressful, weeks beforehand, during and then afterwards. It takes me ages to "get over it".
Christmas day I'm not sure what to do yet. I find it a very depressing day if we don't do something, because everyone else is busy with family and friends except us.

We could keep in touch on here and share what we end up planning, if you like.

😀💜👍

Re: Christmas

Maybe try & think of some of the fun aspects of Christmas to help not get so stressed? I find the family aspect of it extremely stressful, every year someone makes a scene. I'm already getting anxious & sick over it now. What helps is distracting myself with the fun bits. I love looking at the beautiful decorations in store, the light competitions, the music & don't get me started on the food, mince pies - Yum! 🙂

Re: Christmas

That's a great idea &Bridget - planning for Christmas. I'm not buying much this year. Very simple and easy. I told hubby we'll see his mum the day before and it was ok.
All our Xmas stock coming in at work might buy some there.
Have you started shopping yet?

Re: Christmas

No, no Christmas shopping yet. I have a birthday to get through first, before I think about Christmas. Not many presents to get anymore, so that makes it easier. @BlueBay

Yes, you'll probably have alot to choose from at work, I thought that too. Makes it easier for you, that's for sure and probably a discount, hehe! xo
