Re: some advice

I agree to with @Appleblossom . I had Soviet anxiety @YaKnow . Exposure therapy is what worked. That is, just doing it. Getting out there even when you don’t want to because you know it’s better for you in the long run.

by nature, I prefer to stay home. I hate functions and I hate going out. However, I make myself do it because I don’t want to once again be crippled by my own fears. It’s just too taxing on the spirit, soul and body.

Just gotta get out there and do it. Start with short amounts of time is less crowded places, then gradually step it up. Take it slowly. Take long deep breaths - that will prevent flight/fight responses.

Good luck!

Hello @YaKnow

from @Max33

I sometimes have social anxiety and panic attacks. I read a lot of books about how to deal with Anxiety. I did graded exposure very slowly and worked up to going into a room to socialise. I sat by myself and someone came over to welcome me to their table. I went a few times but did not stay long. I had some anxiety attacks and felt like I would pass out, so I had to quickly leave a few times. Once I was in the street I felt heaps better.

Now I stay home because I am vulnerable to severe Covid and many of the people I met have contracted it. Everyone is catching it so for me it makes it difficult to socialise with that group anymore. They don't wear masks or social distance inside. Social anxiety can be overcome. I highly recommend an easy read book called "Dealing With It-Anxiety" by Bev Aisbet. Your local library would have it. All the best to you. 😃
