Getting triggered

Getting triggered

Hi all just wondering if you know of someone that can advocate for me with my flatmate? All she does is trigger me. The latest is that she moved the outdoor table infront of the back door creating a hazard and I am now unable to use the area as intended.
she is impossible to talk to as she has no common sense and is always drunk. And it’s all about her.
things have gone down hill since we moved into the new place as she now has her own lease.

she did not pay anything towards the move, did not help clean the other house, uses my furniture and stuff and bullies and abuses me.

I have complained to the realtor already. What other options should I try? I gave her the silent treatment last night as I just couldn’t deal with her.

any advice would be greatly appreciated xx

Re: Getting triggered

Hey @Sirine, this sounds like a very tricky situation. I'm so sorry that this is happening. How have you been coping with it so far?

I know what role I see an advocate playing, but could you let us know what kind of role an advocate could play or how they could help the situation? I just don't want to assume!

I think it would also be useful to know what you've tried so far. It sounds like you've spoken to them already AND the real estate agent?

I've been in situations before where I haven't felt comfortable raising issues like this with my housemate, and I felt really uncomfortable in my own house. I found it really impacted me a lot. So I hope we can support you a bit with this!

I also thought I'd tag a few community guides to see if they've got any ideas @Judi9877 @Shaz51 @ShiningStar @MDT @wellwellwellnez @Zoe7 @maddison ❤️

Re: Getting triggered

@Former-Member @Hi hun, I’m at my ropes end. She’s mean abusive a bully and selfish not to mention has no common sense. It’s all about her and what she wants and she accuses me of not knowing how to co-habitate.
this morning I got up and she had moved the outdoor table infront of the door making it unusable and a hazard.

I didn’t speak to her last night as I just didn’t have the energy.

this morning I found the front door unlocked again. And she’s on the phone late and loudly.

we need mediation or something. I’m not comfortable in the house when she’s here and I get very anxious when it’s time for her to come home.

I don’t have insurance as yet and am going away over night am scared I’ll come home to nothing as she never locks up because she’s drunk.

im trying to stay sober but it’s hard.
thanks for tagging others maybe some one will know what to do.

I have been nothing but nice and helpful. She didn’t help in anyway with the move or finding this place.

she told me she’s moved over 10 times in 4 years I now know why.

I don’t deserve this

oh dear @Sirine, I'm so sorry. I can just imagine what this situation must be like!

I think some options could be

I also noticed you saying your'e trying to stay sober in this stressful situation. Are you worried about this? If so, is there anyone you can reach out to for support on this or strategies you have for maintaining this?

Re: Getting triggered

@Former-Member I’m in qld hun. I think I will wait until after Xmas and ring the realtor again.

my alcohol counselor is away until the 7th but I have other options. My gf is very supportive so I can ring her.

this has to stop. She knows I have mental health issues and she is doing everything to trigger me. Maybe she’s trying to make me move? Who knows? I’ve spoken to beyond blue this morning and they have given me some info but of course everything is closed.

I need to find a way to have here lease terminated. She needs to go.
I always pick the weirdo’s that take advantage of me.

Re: Getting triggered

whoops! My mistake @Sirine ❤️

I'm glad you've got plenty of support. But it is that weird time of year where everything is closing. We've got a Christmas/New Year and Christmas Loungeroom threads for you to jump into too ❤️

I also had another quick search, and if you want to end your lease or get mediation, one of these should have info

Take care ❤️

Hello and hugs @Sirine ❤

@Former-Member

Very tricky situation my friend

I know each situation is different and I remember when my aunty and her 3 children turned up at my mum's and moved in

So you can imagine there was 8 of us living in a little house

Mum had to finally draw up some boundary rules so we could all live together

Re: Getting triggered

@Shaz51 @Hi hun I have tried to put boundaries in place but she’s so drunk she either doesn’t remember or ignores them but thanks for the tip

Re: Getting triggered

Hi @Sirine

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I can relate. I find myself shutting doors & leaving the room quite often to get peace. Sharing a house can be great... Sometimes!

I can hear the frustration you are experiencing & feeling unable to come to a resolution with your housemate despite your efforts.

You sound very level headed about the situation. I think reaching out here & services like beyond blue, to get things off your chest are great coping strategies in what is a very stressful time for you. Making plans to take further steps in the new year is also great👍 and perhaps the links @Former-Member provided can be helpful?

I am worried, as you mentioned, about your own sobriety. 💜 Please continue to reach out for support whenever you need.

Wishing us both calm & ☮️ for the new year! 😊

Thankyou for tagging me @Former-Member
