Voices

To @Amber @maddison, @wordman , @tonys , @Jake63 , and all others

I've been hearing the voices for very many years, and they can really annoy me. I'm on Meds (depot) but to no avail. Might as well take jelly beans for all the use the Meds are. I was put on a list of drugs but to no avail. After 12 years I put on a lot of weight. I noticed a dark spot appearing in the 2 o'clock region of my left eye. Went to the optician and he said to immediately go to ED at the hospital. I had put on so much weight that I ended up with three courses of Laser surgery in the eye. I still have low vision 20 years later.

My Dr assured me that it was all right and that to keep taking the meds, my appetite became a curse. I also got Diabetes 2, had a heart bypass, and had a 5.5cm aneurysm in my aorta just below my kidneys down to each iliac arteries; they put stints in it, and one had a slowly leaking stint for several years.

After the operations I point blank refused to take the Meds. On discharge, I bought a Diabetes cook book and religiously stuck to the recipes. I exercised on a walker wheelie a couple of times a day, later went to a gym. I got my weight to something a lot more ideal for me, and now, at 80 years young, I'm still hanging in there, in spite of three mini strokes a month ago.

Never give up, and suicide is a Long Time Solution to a Short Time Problem.

God bless and a Merry Christmas to all

@BobP

Re: Voices

My gosh @Dimity that is a long trip for a supposedly local group.

I am thinking of going with U3A next year.

Maybe I am reading the wrong thing for church stuff at the moment. I was writing to @Sophia1 on her 'Living with Ourselves' thread about it. Trying to reconcile a lot in my family history and my personal experience.

Its really complicated about the music situation. You should be right about smaller ensembles and groups, but i do not think the controlling director wants that, though she has given permission for me to come with percussion instruments on Christmas day. During our Carol Festival She weirdly made a thing about how she had 4 singers in one part carol that went down to 3 and then to 2 who actually did it and she never included me in it at all. I can take a hint. There were 2 directors at the festival and then another new one doing alternate weeks which is why my organ got cancelled. The problem one says things like ... 'It happens because I say so'. etc. The field is getting crowded. I do not want to fight to belong.

I am going away in January to a real musicians festival doing early recorder music in ensemble. I have recorder buddy and we are doing beautiful duets but also will be doing lots of small and large SATB ensembles with international tutors. I met her cos I signed up for festival. The Baldwin duet is a beautiful work called "Into your hands I commend my spirit". So very apt for Christian setting. I have a room full of music (all sorts) but if nobody wants it or me, then I quietly turn in another direction, but eventually seem to be turning in circles.

Maybe I should have gone to church this morning, but I did not. I have been triggered a lot this week. Physical pain levels are up. I have to go carefully to get through Christmas period. I can get agitated and jittery. Time for prn and pain meds I guess.

Re: Voices

Take care @Appleblossom pain and disquiet/discomfiture take a toll. It's unfortunate you're dealing with petty autocrats music should rise above. The early music festival should be restorative. There used to be a recorderfest in the high country in Jan. I was politely advised I wasn't welcome on the thread you mention so I unsubscribed.

Lovely weather in Melbourne today, I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am.

Re: Voices

Oh @Dimity I am sorry you were not welcome. I did not mean to rub anyone the wrong way or add distress.

Ahhh ... was that Bundanoon.... I have been there a few times it is a gorgeous little town with a railway station in tact, so I could PT all the way from Melbourne!

Re: Voices

@Appleblossom there used to be a music camp at Harrietville. Aeons ago I went to an applied maths conference at Bundanoon - nice spot. The convenors organised a bus from Sydney airport.

Re: Voices

Indeed @Appleblossom I did have a career change to become more people-oriented and then encountered politicking... swings and roundabouts.

Re: Voices

@Dimity Hello Dimity. Yes you are right there is a lot of politics within the workplace. I hope this does not deter you from being involved in , as you say, people orientated work. I assume you embarked on some sort of community service role. Community service is a great thing to be involved in. I myself have worked in disability services for the past 27 years. I definitely encountered politics and disagreements within the workplace. Fortunately I found peace when I encountered my current client with whom I work with. You just have to find peace amongst all the politics and turmoil of this world. Thank you for your posts. I receive them with great joy. I anticipate you will find peace within your life. Stay strong. Keep the faith and most importantly, as I have said in previous posts, stay true to yourself.

Kind Regards

Wordman

Re: Voices

Love it @Appleblossom . Wodehouse and Wooster also brought me joy... the phrase must go back still further.

@wordman I'm glad you've found your centre, both through your recovery and through your work.

@BobP have you been to Magnetic Island for your coral trout yet? One of my happiest memories is a fishing trip to a little island with my grandfather... I was 6.
