I'm excited because it WILL be an incredible journey. I'm not saying we are the same, but I've been down that path. I moved to Melb on my own. @Birdofparadise8 .
Please note, the following is MY story - it will be different to yours:
Once I moved, I realised I didn't have my parents 'over' me all the time. If I needed emergency services, they came and I didn't need to be worried about them affecting my parents. When I was at home, I was also concerned that my parents would 'find out'. They knew something was up, but breaking free from them meant I had the independence to fall and pick myself up.
I no longer relied on others picking me up. I had to take this journey on my own. For once in my life, I, myself, contacted services for help because I needed it. Not because someone told me I should.
I had to fall before things got better. And when I mean 'fall', i really mean FALLLLLL... to the utter depths of despair. Ambulance, police, involuntary admissions, chemical restraints, ICU - it was a TERRIBLE time. But at no point did I return to where I was born - I knew this was needed for me to 'wake up' and learn to LIVE.
And yes, things DID get better. MUCH MUCH better than I expected. It's been so rocky, but I treasure every moment because it's made me the person I am today.

I want to see you not only survive but thrive in Melb 🙂
