Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Tw Not Coping

This a difficult time you are going through. @Birdofparadise8 . It seems to happen to many transitioning from late teenagehood to early adulthood. It may be biological, or it many be environmental.

I would say this was the most difficult time for me when I was transitioning from being hemmed in by school/uni, to being 'free' to be independent and have the responsibilities of adulthood. We are no longer spoon-fed, but given wings to fly in the direction we want - sometimes, we make the 'right' choices, other times, we don't - yet we need to bear the consequences of these decisions.

So yes, this age/stage was a such an incredibly tough one for me too....

Yeah, I guess so, @tyme. I think a lot of it is to do with the bullying at school.

Re: Tw Not Coping

It's such a hard juggling act @Birdofparadise8 - trying to move on, yet being pulled back by the past.

Question to ask: At this time, can you change the fact that the bullying occurred?

Radical acceptance is to 'accept the things you cannot change'. I know I have shared this with you in the past, but it is good to remember.

Since you cannot change the past, can you make a difference to your NOW? How are you reacting to the history at this current moment? Is your life on hold because of the past?

There will be a stage and time when it is probably good to bring up the past so you can 'deal' with it. However, right now, is it the best time?

Bullying is WRONG. There is no doubt about that. It should never have occurred.

At this time, the bullies perhaps still have the better of you in that they are still affecting you.

Know that you are better than that. Know that you are stronger than that. Know that you will not let them continue haunting you.

I feel sad for those that hurt me. I am probably in a much better place than they.

@Shaz51and @tyme been triggered so the world is upside down. Depression feeds trauma and trauma feeds depressed.

@Shaz51 sounds nice. we are having takeaway, Peshawari food. Like food that originates in North Pakistan near the Afghan border.

Re: Tw Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 I feel like bullying had a role in triggering my teen depression. So it really does affect you. Sending you hugs 💖

Re: Tw Not Coping

You are right @creative_writer - it is a vicious cycle with each feeding the other.

Perhaps therapy is about finding the key element that is able to break this cycle? If this cycle has been going on for an extended period of time, it takes regular work to 'interfere' with this cycle. It will be a challenging journey, but one work taking.

Hearing you tonight @creative_writer

Re: Tw Not Coping

@tyme I think I feel embarrassed by what I’ve spoken about with my psych and SANE in the morning. Like I wasn’t meant to talk about it. It’s like I’ve broken a social norm for being too explicit. I feel like an idiot.

Re: Tw Not Coping

No I can’t change what happen though I wish I could I hate thinking about it. When I talked to kids helpline a few weeks ago about the bullying it was so hard I felt worse after talking about it. I’m not sure I am quite ready to talk about it I think I need to work on my safety and stuff like that first @tyme.

I’m not sure if my life is on hold. I still am progressing in life with uni and work. Just not the mental health side.
