@Birdofparadise8 I know you're probably shocked at my response but seriously sweetie, if all you ever hear is affirmations it will not change how you feel.
I have a friend who had weight loss surgery a few years back. Ever since then she has developed depression, epilepsy, stomach problems, prostate, you name it she has it.
Every time I talked her she is always going through some bad thing. It's like she enjoys the attention she gets. It's easy to slip into the habit of "enjoying poor health" especially when you have not been given the attention you needed growing up.
I know this from personal experience, my mum has always been harder on me than my brother and he always got opportunities I missed out on. We were poor, we didn't have money for both of us to do out of school activities so my brother got to join Cubs, Scouts and the Navy Reserve Cadets. I never asked to join anything because I knew mum couldn't afford it.
What I did instead was jump into relationships quicker than I should have because finally I was getting attention. I ignored warning signs and took rejection badly (still do).
What I have learnt through counselling and other MH resources is to try and change my negative self talk.
I've also learnt that people tend to give up on you if you continue to be negative or act in ways that they don't like or care to be around.
This forum is a great place to learn from other's experiences and help improve your own MH.
I'm always going to have depression, anxiety and BP2 but by training my mind to think positive I have less sad days.
