Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Not Coping

@Former-Member I hope the appointments went okay. I have had a chaotic day. I don’t think I slept well last night, so the racing thoughts are probably worse now. My brain is like, less sleep=increased hyperactivity. It’s insane. When the racing thoughts happen, more trauma intrusive thoughts come in.

@Birdofparadise8 are you up to much this afternoon?

I'm going to see the older person and rewrite a bit of my script.

@creative_writer you?

Re: Not Coping

Why is being on a tram with a whole heap of schoolkids make me feel triggers. It's like its reminding me what it would be like at 's reminding me what it would be like at school or on the bus.

@creative_writer @Former-Member @Snowie @ENKELI @Blackbird11 @Jynx

Or am I just being silly?

Re: Not Coping

You certainly are not being silly @Birdofparadise8

We can get triggered from lots of different things. We can avoid what triggers us but sometimes we don't see it coming. It just happens.

I think the main thing is how to deal with it. I am assuming you got back to your place. Can you try and do some things to calm yourself down? What would help you now?

Re: Not Coping

No, I have to get another one I've just been to the nursing home.

Let's see what the next one is like @Snowie

Re: Not Coping

Do you have any idea why it would trigger me. Like the tram was so full with a school @Snowie

Re: Not Coping

We can get triggered by so many different things @Birdofparadise8 No two of us are ever the same.

Maybe it reminded you of a past trauma. Perhaps something earlier had triggered you and it just affected you at that point. It could be a mixture of different things.

I have been triggered by a perfume before. I still don't know why.

Re: Not Coping

@Birdofparadise8 you said yourself hun, being on a bus full of school kids reminds you of being at school, a traumatising time in your life. Triggers don't always make sense, but any environment, situation, or experience that reminds us of our trauma can initiate the fight/flight/freeze/fawn response. What do you find helpful to calm your nervous system when you're triggered?

Re: Not Coping

Mmm okay @Snowie

Something in the smell might have reminded you of something or someone.
