Yeah - the question does leave a lot of open endedness to it, for sure @Birdofparadise8 🙂🌺
ok..
creation of a PICO (just taking the first method there) to generate a (completely new study question) secondary to the original research…
Righto. This sounds like the need is to generate a research question (using PICO) based on validating results you have generated in your own SR, which will shine a light on what is/are the weaknesses you’ve noticed after completing your SR 🙂
I think, it may be helpful to use a critical appraisal tool on both the article/s you have conducted the SR on, as well as your own SR (separately)…then, this can help highlight the areas of loss of statistical power (if using a quantitative appraisal tool) as well as the data gaps (when appraising qualitative data using a qualitative appraisal tool).
this is above and beyond what the assessment question is strictly asking you to do, however it may just be a good means of discovering and clarifying what is missing, thus leading a clear path or a PICO development (or even more then one!).
McMaster - if you’re not going to hand them in and only use them for yourself here - has both qual and quant appraisal tools.. I think I sent them in one of those links? And I think one of those links has explanations of how and why each different appraisal tool is used for a variety of different types of research articles 🌺🙂
How do you feel with that, dearest? 🌺🙂
