Not Coping

Not Coping

Hey everyone how are you all?

@RiverSeal @Shaz51 @NatureLover @tyme @Former-Member @Eve7 @Former-Member @amber22 @Jynx @FloatingFeather

I'm not doing great at all today. I'm feeling down. I also keep beating myself up for everything and feel like I'm just failing. I need a break from everything. It's getting so hard that I don't know how to keep going anymore especially since I can't talk to anyone around me as they are leaving me or don't understand.

Hope you don’t mind me reaching out I just really need a chat and though I could come on here and vent and talk for a bit.

Thank you

Re: Not Coping

Did you make it @Birdofparadise8 ?

I really don't like cooking... well, shall I say I don't like the mess nor the smell that lingers.

I'd rather pay someone to cook for me. Thank God I do have family and friends to give me food. I never ask, they just know I don't cook because I live on my own.

When you move and live on campus, will you be cooking much?

Re: Not Coping

No got take away tonight. @tyme

I do like cooking when I can be bothered but that hasn't been lately.

La Trobe University they have meals included in the accommodation so I won't have to so that's good. It will take some pressure off with the uni work and then work it self.

Re: Not Coping

That's great that they have meals included! @Birdofparadise8 - I never knew that existed?

I'm actually excited for you 🙂 I moved to Melbourne a number of years ago. I'd never look back. I love living in Melb.

Tw Not Coping

Yeah it's so good. I'm excited too I can't wait it's going to be a massive change. @tyme

Can I just as a question about talking to family about suicide because I've just been watching a tv show station 19 and the person was going to do something and my dad was like then why did you want to end it then and some other stuff. l exactly know how the person felt even though it being a show. I just don't know how I'm supposed to tell them how I feel when they don't even understand it or would just be ashamed of me. Hope it's okay me asking.

Re: Tw Not Coping

Of course it is okay to ask @Birdofparadise8 .

I find I have the same issue talking about suicide and self-harm to a lot of people. It comes down to stigma, education, and experience.

To be honest, I think i'd be absolutely the same if I did not go through the MH challenges I have experienced. I've learnt so much about MH through my experiences - more than what any person could teach me.

However, when I speak to my family, parents, etc, they have so little understanding. They just don't 'get' why people are driven to do the things they do.

I don't even think I bother explaining. There is only so much you can learn by education and someone telling you; but it is another thing to learn through experience. Experience is a great teacher.

Talking about suicide and SH can be such a scary thing. It is hard to hear that someone is feeling so low, and not know what to do about it.

Hence, it is about connecting with people who DO understand. That helps you feel less disconnected. I hope these forums are a way and means for you to find belonging and connection.

Re: Tw Not Coping

Yeah it's hard I just wish I could help them understand, but I don't think my parents ever will.

I know with self harm I didn't really understand it last year with my friend who was struggling with it. Now with me experiencing it myself I totally understand it.

Yeah it's been great connecting on here it's been very helpful.

Like I don't think I'm ever going to be able to tell my parents that I'm suicidal if they don't even understand my depression to begin with. They just don't understand that how the emotional pain can get so strong to push you to ending it all.

Thank you @tyme

Re: Tw Not Coping

I agree with what you are saying @Birdofparadise8 - so many people do not understand and we cannot make them understand.

I'm a firm believer that if they are to understand, they will.

Give them time I guess.

In the meanwhile, you have us 🙂

I love speaking to you 🙂 At least we have both 'been there' and understand what SH is!

It's about finding your tribe 🙂

Re: Tw Not Coping

Yeah it's not great. @tyme

All I can do is try and help them understand I guess and if they don't I'll just have to live with the fact they won't.

Yes it's been really nice speaking with you too. I don't have many people in my life that get it and if they do they just pull away anyway.

I'm going to bed now I've got a big day tomorrow with my GP appointment and then with the psychiatrist so I'm hoping to get some sleep I'm a bit nervous.

I hope you have a good night and have a good shift at work tomorrow.

Thank you sooooo much for your company tonight @Birdofparadise8 - it has meant a lot to me.

I really appreciate being able to speak to you, because you DO understand.

Have a great day tomorrow. I'll speak to you sometime later this week - maybe mid-week 🙂

Until then, take care, tyme
