What is "quality of life" ?

What is "quality of life" ?

What is quality of life?

A big question I'm asking as I survive day by day. I want to thrive not just survive. I feel like a rat in a wheel: sleep, eat, work, eat, meds, sleep repeat.

I understand a lot of research says social connections are key but living with a mental illness makes it more difficult to find and keep friends and family.

I am learning I can't rely on other people for my happiness but when I am alone I'm sad. People motivate me to be my best self. I don't seem to have intrinsic self-motivation.

The few people left in my life are drifting away and I don't know how to stop it.

Does anyone relate?

Hi @chibam

I don't have much time to properly reply but I'm sorry about your experience being blamed. I am also quite action oriented and try to do things to change

I’m glad that you’ve got them @Snowie. Please keep fighting for yourself as well though.

How is today for you @Patchworks.

It sounds like you have had some bad experiences in the past @chibam.

Too many to count, @Captain24 . Too many to count.

Still, IMHO, the greater problem is the absolute absence of any good experiances. People never seem to adequately respect that as being at the root of a poor quality of life. Life needs to give you evidance that it indeed has worth and is indeed worth prolonging. Otherwise, your never going to believe the people who make the bold claim that it is.

@Captain24 @chibam

I am struggling atm. I sometimes feel like it may be easier to live in a mental institution than face a mental illness, as well as work, financial stress and everything. At least in an institution there will be my peers who I might be able to communicate with. I'm writing from a place of difficulty. I agree with chibam to some extent that if the struggle gets too much, we should have more options, but I also know at other times in my life I've been grateful to be here. I don't have any answers, only questions.

Unfortunately also I don't even have any actions atm except to pause, hop off the world that is my life and reset

I’m sorry you are struggling so badly @Patchworks.

What has helped you in the past to reset?

I know you said that you liked art are you able to put what you are feeling to paper in a way to release? I don’t know if that’s possible as I’m not artistic at all!

Or would writing it all out in a letter to someone help. Just to feel like you are telling someone how you feel. You don’t have to give it to them.

Im lucky I love my job so work is my saving grace.

Thanks @Captain24

I do find writing therapeutic. That's an action I can do that may help
