Fatigue after psychotic break

Fatigue after psychotic break

Hello I had a psychotic break the last two days and whole the delusions are resolving today, I find myself wanting to go by my usual routine of cleaning and doing some errands….but I can’t!!

I am still finding it a little hard to concentrate, and whilst I’ve had plenty of rest and sleep physical I have no energy even washing the two saucepans in the sink seems like a monumental task let alone the laundry.

I don’t like feeling like this as is said I do want to go about my day.

but at the moment just lying on the couch and not thinking is what I feel like doing and what feels right today.

is this normal?????? As I said I hate being lazy like this.

Hi @Anon1975,

Go easy on yourself - I would imagine the last couple of days would have been pretty full on for you I think you should give yourself permission and compassion around this. If your body is still tired I think it is a good idea to listen to what it needs.

I've had those days when something that would usually take me 10 minutes to complete and I wouldn't give another thought to it, just seems too much to even contemplate on days like you talk about. Now when this happens (it doesn't happen often) I recognise that I just need to take care of me that day and the task(s) can wait til I'm up to it.

I don't think you are lazy at all - I think it is more about self-care and doing what you need at this moment to feel stronger.

Warm wishes,

FloatingFeather

Hey @Anon1975

As you said, your doing what makes you feel right at the moment. Be kind to yourself, when you feel you have some energy, you can always set yourself a challenge to do those 2 dishes when you are feeling better.

Have you got the energy to eat and drink?

Re: Fatigue after psychotic break

Hey @AussieRecharger @I just had some cereal for dinner which I went to the grocery store to buy earlier. I am having another rest and have set the goal of washing those two dishes, making my bed and having a shower.

I have been sleeping all day with an unfounded exhaustion, but I do feel a little better this evening.

the odd thing is that I was getting worried about myself a day or two before the break hit as my head felt funny.

whag do you do in this instance when you get physical signs you may well go nuts?

Its horrible being in that state. I am thankful to my partner who just cuddled me yesterday and made me feel so safe when my mind was telling me the world was a dangerous one.

Thank you @FloatingFeather. I guess you can only do what you can do.
