Something’s not right

PtSD

PtSD

My last ptsd attack was a doozy. I knew it would be. I told myself when I went back to my man that if he flipped out over his weat bix or that I hadn't heated up his milk properly that he had a mental illness and therefore I could release myself from blame and never look back. Bit by bit over the years he out of the blue , randomly, sometimes when I was still waking up in bed, just lash out like an insane wild man...yell..scream I my face....jump up and down....the screaming my God was like a screeching demond....that's when I started to know I had ptsd and it came to the surface and would throw me up against the wall without mercy. I'd beg him please don't scream ..we can talk about anything you want to. I'm here for you baby but just don't scream at me like that I had a abusive step father that screamed till the veins in his neck pulsated and he spat on me while he screamed...but every 2 weeks or so like clock work he flipped out. I will never know the truth about it. Did he have a mental illness ? But here I am now..I'm completely ruined after 12 years. I just got diagnosed with shingles. My God it's so painful. I want to live but I don't have much faith that I'll get through this . I just haven't got enough healing power left in me

This is a nice safe place to talk and I need this

Thankyou

Hey @Skyehigh911

Welcome to the forums ❤️

Abuse is one of the more common reasons behind PTSD. With your body constantly being thrown into a fight or flight mode and change the way your brain functions. Just as @AussieRecharger and @maddison said. To keep being thrown into that heightened state is utterly exhausting.

You need to look after yourself, cliche, but you are the most important person in your life. The reasons people stay in that kind of relationship are numerous. I am relieved to see that you are starting to think about what is best for you and what you would like to happen here. I think that people who are exposed to abuse from intimate partners and family members, and for extended periods of time, often forget about themselves in the equation

Have you ever read any of the artist called Emma’s books? I recommend them, they are very relatable and touch on the dynamics between relationships. She can be very inspirational when you are struggling with some of those dynamics and reminds you about you ❤️

Ur welcome @Skyehigh911 it's nice to read that feel grateful & that ppls posts are helping you. You are doing good👍👍 even if it feels like ur not. It's good to tell ourselves that😊 Sounds like you are in a sober mental place. (I don't mean sober eg. drinking!)

'what else is there left to do '

Exactly! I have felt this way too before.

Re: PtSD

Holy wow @Former-Member I wish I had been taught even a fraction of this at school. This needs to be a mandatory subject!!! Thankyou so much for sharing. I'm reading the preview on Google.

The emotional load.

It really highlights for me how corrupt or brainwashed we all are. Not only in relation to sex & consent. In many areas of interaction... All the right words can be used & we can feel so confused esp. If the other person is very intelligent.

It confirms to me the idea of "gut instinct."

Even, this - we are trained "don't be so sensitive."

It's taken me 44 years to realise that my body & emotions are waaaayyy smarter than my brain!

Re: PtSD

It’s a very good read, especially of you’ve experienced poor dynamics. Agreed about mandatory subject!! For everyone.

Sending hugs and inspiration ❤️ @maddison @Skyehigh911
