Good Ideas thread

Hi all,

I'm just kicking this off so we can have all the good ideas pinned in one spot. Problem is I don't know quite how to do it! @NikNik can you help please? I think that @kato 's idea about charging for advertising should be here. (But I can't find it )

I think we should have the Book review idea here too - was that yours @Uggbootdiva ? Or was it NikNik? (PS Not so sure about rating with cats rather than stars, maybe penguins?)

I thought that was another great idea, can't remember who had it - for our mascot to be penguins. It was @Harry ! and that is here http://saneforums.org/t5/Enjoying-time-with-others/Talking-about-pets/td-p/1743/highlight/true/page/2

So roll up rool up and post your wonderful and varied ideas for the forum right here.

I guess you could count likes as a bit of a vote for in favour of the idea too @NikNik ?

Yeah I do need your help, because I couldn't find (or link) @kato 's post about charging advertising for those who break the no self-promotion rule (hopefully he might remember where it was?). I think I suggested that you should charge exhorbitant rates for it too (maybe list those on the guidelines?) on par with front page of The Age, seeing as it is ad free space.

Another idea, now that the forum is so big (ie so many on it plus so many threads & posts):

is it possible to have an activity list of most recent posts for the whole forum (a bit like we can access for our own posts?)

Something akin to the one on the RHS of the main page, except a lot longer?

Sadly not...

However, I will look into perhaps more 'most recent posts' in that list and maybe a scroll down on it.

I have a meeting with the team later in the week, so I will ask then 🙂

Glossary type thing
I don't have a lot if experience with the overall system of treatment for MI, so wondering if their could be a list of what the acronyms mean?

Some in a post I just read
ECASA
DHS
CPS
and BPD - I thought thus was bipolar disorder but it seems to mean something diff and I feel dumb asking people what they mean, as if I am not really one of them because I can't talk the talk.

Love your idea about a glossary. I too often read aconyms that I have to look up because I'm not sure what they mean. Are you thinking the glossary would be something that members can contribute towards or are you thinking it's one that's written up as a document?

You've got a really good point. A glossary is an excellent idea!

A few explanations seeing as it was possibly my post that had so many acronyms, sorry!

ECASA: Eastern Center Against Sexual Assualt

DHS: Dept of Human Service

CPS: Child Protection Services (part of DHS)

BPD: (yes I have same trouble, I have to spell it out to myself every time) Borderline Personality Disorder

Absolutely fine to ask the question, not dumb at all. Helpful because I'm sure you're not alone.

When I don't know I google it or ask! My apologies for so many in my post - I was writing in a hurry. i will try not to use them any more.
