Alcoholic 27 yr old son with Brain Injury
Hi there, I'm new here. Just looking for some advice on how to be able to help my 27 yr old son. When he was 4 yrs old, he contracted Bacterial Meningitis and his father & I (who are no longer married) were told that he had an acquired brain injury. His father and I divorced when he was 15 and things weren't pleasant to say the least. As soon as he was able, he started drinking. That was when he turned 18 and he basically hasn't stopped. He is now becoming extremely agitated and abusive in his father's home. I was on a phone call with his father during one of his rants a couple of days ago and he called me for all the names under the sun. The house they live in is like a garbage tip due to him collecting broken and working yard equipment. No one will stay with them or visit as the house is disgusting. He has a girlfriend who has disabilities herself and this is not a good situation for her at all. I just don't know where to go with this to get him some help. I have tried to get him assistance previously but he sees me as interfering. I have tried to explain to him that he has anxiety and that he uses the alcohol to make him feel better and that he should see a doctor to get help. I offered to take him wherever he needs to go to get help but he just refuses to go. I fear that he may get physical during one of his outbursts and then it will end up with police being called.
