Something’s not right

Struggling and hiding it inside.

Struggling and hiding it inside.

So truth is, I'm struggling hard and I have been keeping it all in. I have stopped reaching out for help, because it seems pointless and when I have reached out, it has got me nowhere. I feel so alone. But truth is, it's a scary place to be. I have been having intense thoughts of hurting myself and putting an end to the way I feel. Life feels like it is collapsing in of me and I feel so broken inside. I really don't know where to turn (except for here...maybe). I've tried Beyondblue, Lifeline, Suicide Call Back, GP, case manager, etc. But i get absolutely no where - it seems that nobody gets it and there is no answer. I feel like i sound like a broken record. I don't want to go into the reasons why I feel like this (theres too much), but I just can't deal anymore. Things have only gotten worse, not better. And I really don't think they will. I've never felt this hopeless. There seems to be no point anymore. Sorry for this kind of post, but I'm at a loss.

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

I'd encourage you to have a talk to our counsellors @Loz_3647 . They are not a crisis service, but you may be able to go into more than what you can on the forums.

Perhaps you can speak to them before your situation becomes more critical? Only a suggestion. Their number is 1800 187 263. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait. They are available up until 10pm. They also have webchat.

Check out our drop-in services here https://www.sane.org/get-support/drop-in-service

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

Understandable you don't want to talk on the phone @Loz_3647 . You can chat here @Loz_3647 . We want you here. We may not be able to solve your problems, but we can sit and listen to each other.

When you post, I'd be happy to follow on. You can type "@" in front of my name so I get a notification. Like this @tyme . Of course, no obligation. Only if you want to. I'm not always online, but I will get your notification and respond once I'm back online.

It's probably also good to know that there is a REAL person on the forums 24/7. Moderators are on the all day, all night - not just a robot! If any time you'd like to tag a moderator, you can type @moderator .

You are not alone. Sitting with you,

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

Your kind of post is the reason we are here ourselves, @Loz_3647. I think I understand how you feel with the services you have tried–like they are going through the motions of listening, but not hearing, not caring, and not making an iota of difference to your situation. They just don't understand how serious the situation is or that you're begging for help. We go from pillar to post saying the same serious things over and over, and getting nowhere. And often at considerable cost. I've been there many times. I've stopped reaching out too. Here is the only place I feel heard, understood and helped when I'm at my wit's end.

'I don't know what to do' is my constant thought, so I just plod on as best I can.

I hope you're doing alright at the moment.

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

Hey @Loz_3647 .

I know the feeling. I have found that at times when I have really needed help the person on the phone was clearly being scripted and prompted in a trained manner. I know they are trying to help but I don’t think they realise how fake and scripted they sound.
It has left me feeling worse and even more detached than I was before I reached out.
It takes a good therapist, social worker or peer support worker who “gets it”. Just know that it’s not you. Many others are having this same struggle.

do you have a therapist or support person.?

what support is in place for you. What is your plan for coping and getting through the hard times?

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

Yes, they are VERY scripted.

I have been seeing a new psychologist. After a session yesterday ,she was concerned about me and contacted emergency services. I told her it was pointless, and it was, because they left me at home on my own. I like her, but seeing her once a week for 50mins, is hard. I feel that once we get talking, it's over. I need help now (like ongoing....like a hospital admission). That's what she wanted to help with but I knew the outcome before it happened.

There isn't really any support in Place. Do and say what others want, and then its all 'fine' tell them the truth, and that's bad so they ignore you.

As of the last few weeks, I decided to stop caring and stop trying to get through the hard times. There is only one way I know how I will get through this. And that's kind of my final decision. I don't think anyone can change my mind, unless I'm locked up in a mental health ward. (And that's not going to happen). I'm holding it all in and I feel like I'm close to exploding.

Re: Struggling and hiding it inside.

Oh @Loz_3647, you've tried everything–like so many of us. That emergency services left you at home shows that you are used to keeping it all locked up inside. Me too.

I don't have any advice, @Loz_3647, because I can't help myself and, like you, I've tried everything. I hope you're doing well enough today. Take care of yourself.
