Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

I think the pain in the bones is related to some virus? @creative_writer - it's the sort you get when you have a fever...

As for my niece and nephew, I didn't see them much in the past, but since moving recently, I live practically next door to them so they are always at my place. They are so mischievous!

Do you have little kids around you?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme yeah it can happen with viral infections. I am not generally around young children. But they do keep you good company. I feel like I can be more myself with kids. The only babies that really visit our house are the neighbours’ cats. I feel like since the Vic lockdown, there have been a lot of cats roaming around everywhere.

Agreed @creative_writer - i certainly feel better being with children. I have considered youth peer work/counselling. But not right now.

Are you studies generally working with adults?

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I am actually thinking of going into youth mental health. Young people have so much potential. Through my course I’ll just be specialising in general mental health but I really do hope I can get placements where I am able to work with youth.

I never thought I'd enjoy working with youth.... @creative_writer - I'm learning though. There is so much to learn. And yes, they have so much potential.

@tyme I think lived experiences does help you understand what it’s like to live with a MIs. Do you ever find it challenging? I certainly have in challenging volunteering in the mental health sector because of triggers, but I am learning so trying to get myself in a good headspace first before I continue that sort of volunteer work.

Makes sense @creative_writer - i guess you need to feel ready in yourself.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme that’s true. I think it’s not about life being perfect because life is never perfect, but I need to be able to volunteer without it really triggering me so much. I guess you learn with time.

Do you enjoy cooking @creative_writer ? Sorry to go off track. But I know food plays a huge part in some cultures and acts as a form of therapy.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I cook sometimes. But I think I am only going to enjoy food when I develop a healthier relationship with food. I write sometimes though, that can be therapeutic. I feel like I am able to capture more emotions through poetry than journaling.
