Something’s not right

Struggling: TW suicide

Struggling: TW suicide

I have been struggling a lot lately with suicidal thoughts. It’s become a daily occurrence and it’s been really overwhelming to cope. I am safe right but having to fight this is very exhausting. I feel so trapped, I am tired of living in pain, fear and shame. I feel like a burden to people and unimportant.

Hey @creative_writer - sounds very dim and dark at the moment.

Would speaking to someone help? I somewhat remember you mentioning that speaking to family is difficult. How about speaking to one of the following services:

- Lifeline on 13 11 14

- Beyondblue on 1300 224 636

- Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467

It might help you get some of the pain out.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme I was actually received a call today from the mental health team member but my mum was in the room so I told them I was doing okay. I mean I could have told her I got a call and got some privacy on the phone, I don't even know why I acted like everything was fine when it really wasn't, sort of blew my chance to actually talk through things. I also wasn't expecting a call that early in the day either, I thought they would call in the afternoon. I suppose I could try contacting a crisis service.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

I called beyond blue last night @creative_writer and they were very helpful.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@Captain24 glade to hear Beyond Blue helped. I just came off one with SCBS, it was okay but nowhere as good as the support I get from contacting SANE counselling service.

SANE counselling will be available tomorrow @creative_writer . 10am-10pm Monday-Friday.

You deserve it. I'm so glad you have reached out to SCBS.

@tyme I have lecture tomorrow which I’ll stream online and appointment with the mental health clinician afterwards. I feel really stressed that I barely got anything done today too, I am already behind and it’s week two 😔.

I hear you @creative_writer . I remember not so long ago that I was ALWAYS behind with uni. Now that I'm not in uni, I'm always looking for degrees and courses I can enrol in. I really do miss it. But I think it's been good this year that I've given myself a rest from studies.

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tyme a rest from studies can be a good idea. I took the winter off (instead of doing placement because I was too overwhelmed) so really only going back into it right now. It is so easy to fall behind. What kind of courses are you looking at?

I pretty much had a lapse of sanity right now. I hadn't self-harmed for a bit, but kind of just gave in.

I'm looking more at health sciences, research, sociology.... @creative_writer . Uni prices have increased dramatically!

Re: Struggling: TW suicide

@tymethose sounds interesting. We need more people like you 🙂. I agree, uni has become really expensive.

I am having anxiety for tomorrow at uni. I self harmed yesterday and afraid that if my sleeve slips upwards tom it’ll look too obvious what I’ve done and I don’t want to be asked questions. It sounds sort of stupid, but it’s like I’m suppose to have my shit together being a social work student. Maybe I am thinking too much, been super cautious about my arm today at home so nobody would see. Long sleeves can slide up.
