World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day

This morning I have written a post on facebook regarding World Mental Health Day. I decided after such a long time of suffering that I was going to let it out; put it out there for everyone to see. I don't care anymore about hiding my mental illness; i don't what others think anymore. Because I know that I am the one going through it; i am the one who has to deal with it. I am not ashamed of what I wrote and I am not worried what others will say.

Hope this gives others inspiration and encouragement to just speak out. It's not taboo anymore.

Today is World Mental Health Day. If anyone is suffering a mental illness please reach out and seek help. There are caring professionals who have the right tools to help you. There should be no stigma attached to mental illness but unfortunately there still is. And this is why today is an important day. To spread the word; to know it's okay if you don't feel okay.
You're probably thinking how do I know? I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ptsd and BPD six years ago and I still struggle daily but I know that with the help of my husband and children I will get through this. I also have a caring and supportive professional team who understand me and I have some amazing friends who have stuck by me and are always there for me.
There is no shame with having a mental illness. This is why I decided to write this today. xxoo

@Former-Member good luck with your job interview. I really hope you go well.

Thank you to everyone for kind comments. You know I don't think I would have written this on Facebook if it wasn't for all of you on here. So much love support and encouragement.
@NikNik I really want to thank you for a fantastic forum. Everyone at Sane should be really proud. To be able to share stories good and bad openly and honestly is really encouraging.

Utopia
I need a life and my finances are getting bad.I need a purpose to wake up in the morning but I am hoping it's a job I enjoy.I am estranged from family, and don't have anyone I could call a friend. My mother as stated isn't one I can discuss my problems with as she is self centred.I do love her but she has been part of the reason I got ill.I live on medical certificates so I don't have the pressure of 20 jobs a month and the hopelessness and shame of walking into a job agency.I know I'm not in the right mind for this and don't see the point of putting myself through it.Thanks for the encouragement Sadgirl.

Re: World Mental Health Day

@Former-Member. I appreciate your honesty. My feelings have been so similar to your.
I'm on Workcover & centrelink. So for over 2 years I have been going to the gp saying I'm good to go to work & then going back within aweek or ttwo and saying - no I can't cope.
It is an awful situation to be in.
Work or no work - I think we do need to find a purpose - a meaning in life like you say.
I've been doing really well with my therapy and have been feeling a lot better and more confident and ready to go to work this year.
But then tge past week and a half I'm starting to get my anxiety back. And it's scaring the you know what out of me. I so fear going backwards.
Sorry. I was trying to help you with this post. But I think I see a bit of you in me and it's .... just hard.
trying to stay positive

Re: World Mental Health Day

Thanks for your honesty.Ive had one thing go wrong after another for a long time,no matter what I do like moving to a city for six months after selling the family farm which I deeply regret it all has been for nothing.Today was one of those days where all I wanted to do was sleep and I know that to me is the closest thing to being dead, where you feel nothing and free from distress and the pathetic life.I look for work and the job process but have the awful feeling in me that I will never be good enough or entitled to be happy. Then there's the thing I can't cope, and avoid things. In April the dentist told me I need a tooth out, never had a tooth out and am devastated and worried how I will feel or be noticed. He told me to come back in a month... haven't been back worried because I have struggled with major depression and anxiety all year due to catastrophic changes.I did 3 shifts in training for cleaning a few weeks ago for 3 weeks work which was for today....wasn't called back.Cant take it personally and don't enjoy cleaning but it was first time I worked in four years.Putting up with people is a challenge, with ego's etc. When we are like this we are so vulnerable.I fear anything that jeopardizes my safety...from myself.
