Hey @Captain24 ,
Thank you for the update. We are sorry to hear how hard it has been for you, but we are glad you are here.
As for posting about suicide, you did the right thing by adding a trigger warning and asking for a spoiler to be added. This can be done by highlighting the text you want hidden, and clicking the spoiler icon at the top - the triangle with the exclamation mark in it.
It is okay to share about SH and suicide as long as it doesn't specify details and it is not something that is happening in the moment.
One thing for everyone to remember is that when you cannot guarantee your own safety, then it's time to take a break from the forums.
It's also a good habit to let the community know you are safe by adding, "I'm safe for now" at the bottom of your post. This means readers will not be left concerned about your safety. Once again, if members are not able to let the community know they are safe (because they perhaps aren't safe), then it's time to take a break from the forums.
This is not to push people away when they are in a difficult space, but so that they can reach out to services that can help including Lifeline, Suicide Callback or 000. As a peer-led forum, working with crisis is beyond our scope which means we end up having to contact crisis services as well.
I hope this makes sense to everyone.
Feel free to email us at team@saneforums.org if you have any questions about safe-posting.
Hugs, Captain!
