Hi @Captain24
Glad I could pass something from my experience that hopefully helps. I can vividly recall when my eyes were open to my depression that I was so motivated to change my ways, and would read self help books, go for walks, do this, do that which would last for a week or two. By the end of that I’d find myself losing my motivation, feeling burnt out and not as interested in my recovery. Then the negative voices would return and flood my mind and end up going back to those old thought patterns.
You said it spot on, try to enjoy the journey (even those the journey is so tough) haha, but as you go it gets more and more manageable.
I’ve personally succumbed to the belief that this will likely be a lifelong thing for me now, but as my therapist says Rome wasn’t built in a day!
Even though I’m still far from where I want to be, looking back, I can see how far I’ve come from where I was, and it’s the same for you too 🙂
I’m really glad to hear that you sought help, there’s no shame in it.
one other thing I will share from my own personal experience, I find with my progress or even negative process, a lot of it is about momentum. I find when I start doing small things in the morning, Ie making my bed, it encourages me to do other things and it snowballs throughout the day..
the same unfortunately works with my negative moods, often it starts will one stressful moment, then it leads to more negative thoughts and gets bigger and bigger.
I have to be so mindful of when my mind starts getting negative cos it can get the best of me. I find taking a break and doing something to stop that gaining momentum helps.
Keep up the great work ❤️💪
