Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Woohoo Superhero @Captain24 ! I knew you would!!!

What a relief.

As I reflect on the situation, I'm so glad your your own GP made it very clear that work is what keeps you well.

You go superhero!

Such a relief @tyme. I’ve been waiting for you! Work still has to get back to me though. They will get the report on Monday. So not sure when I go back but that’s ok, I know I will go back.

I did the superhero thing and breathed while doing it. Pixie was giving me the weirdest look though.

He asked me lots of questions obviously but he would be asking about my life and symptoms then randomly ask a work question. I think he was trying to trip me up. But I was being honest so it didn’t work.

He agrees with the bipolar 2 diagnosis.

Thank you so so much for your support through it all. Just have to wait and see what Monday brings with a return date.

I hope you are ok? How was your day?

I feel on top of the world! @Captain24 ! I've been waiting to log on.

Just want to chat with you all!

I'm so glad you went in with the Superhero pose. It can make such a HUGE difference.

This is why I love connecting with you - because you are proactive about your recovery and you DO want to try new things to see if they work. It doesn't mean you won't have downs, but it is much easier to connect with people like you than those who really are not ready to try anything.

You go Superhero!

Re: I can’t cope

So glad you’re having a great day. @tyme. Me too now.

I am currently well. I know it won’t last forever but I’m doing my best to stay here for a while at least. I’m learning I need self care when I have difficult situations.

In my psych notes, that my nurse read to me yesterday, she has written that I will try anything! So she agrees with you. Thanks for saying that it means a lot and I want to get better so I have to try. Even if it sounds silly.

Someone called a helpline and they suggest going to a playground. They thought it was silly. But I went and went on the swing. It felt so good! I probably looked ridiculous but I didn’t care. Now I know it may help if I’m sliding down.

Preping for todays appointment I worked out warning signs for hypo and depressive moods. I’m going to put them where I have easy access to keep monitoring. Also what I can do to bring myself back to ‘equilibrium’ . See I listen! 😝

I find it hard it connect with those that don’t seem ready too.

Re: I can’t cope

You are just so awesome @Captain24 - Such a delight 🙂

There are a lot of things that sound 'silly', but there is science to back it up.

e.g. imagine how strange someone looks taking repetitions of deep breathing out in public - but who cares? It works!

Then, imagine if I tell someone in public that I park an ice-cream van in my thoughts... they'd look at me like I had three heads or something!

Then also, walking into something with your chest puffed out in a superhero pose sounds extraordinarily crazy - but it works!

Bottom line, give things a go - if they work, keep doing it; if they don't, move on 🙂

Life is too short. The longer people are dismissive to change, the more drawn out recovery becomes. I learnt the hard way...

Re: I can’t cope

Sorry @tyme. Pixies boyfriend was visiting! Those two are so wild when they are together.

It took me a little while to develop a little bit of confidence to try new things and see what worked. I don’t think I was ever dismissive, which I think has helped my journey.

We do do some strange things but if it’s what gets us through then that’s ok. I’m learning it’s about what I need to do instead of what others think.

Sometimes I think some people don’t want to get better. My nurse said to me the other day that I keep trying even when I’m in a really dark place. She has patients that just think they will miraculously wake up cured.

Some days it’s so hard. But if a day is to hard for me to face then that’s ok. I just need to learn not to let it consume me for too long. This is still my biggest struggle I think. It’s where I need to learn the most.
