Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

I think it is also the naturally catastrophising brain we all have. I know I catastrophise all the time @Captain24 .

You know, like catastrophising before an event, then realising after - Oh, was that all?

Know what I mean? I think it is in-built in many of us - moreso for those who are more sensitive.

I’m picking up what you’re putting down @tyme I catastrophise all the time. I guess I am now too. I’m seeing the negative instead of positive. Not that there really is much positive.

When I was in with my nurse today, I thought of you. They are concerned about my rapid shifts and the catastrophic nature of them which is making the Bipolar difficult She brought up BPD and said I have some markers but not enough.

Things will eventually iron out @Captain24 - it does take time.

As for the bipolar/BPD, I'm mainly looking at such rapid 'cycling'... things seems to be too reliant on environmental triggers for it to be purely bipolar. Then again, maybe it's both? I'm not a dr so I wouldn't know.

As far as I see it, you are doing all the right things, and you are so proactive about your recovery. I think that's why teams like to work with you.

The hardest part is trying to work with someone who clearly needs support, yet a so dismissive of any type of support. Or, others who don't budge to try new things.

In real life, I'd love to work with someone like you. It makes people's work absolutely worth it even though there are challenging times.

One thing I've learnt: if what you are continually doing is clearly not working - change it. That's what therapy has taught me.

Often, we continue to do the things we do because it is most comfortable and easy. However, the consequences may not be the most helpful.

Recovery is about stepping out of this comfort zone in order to reap long term gain. As I said, I'm confident in your ability to do this. 🙂

Re: I can’t cope

My nurse said today that she really likes me and so does the psychiatrist. That’s because I’m trying so hard and I take on board what they say and will give it a go. With the constant med changes I just do it without question. @tyme

She did say today though that I need to slow down and not rush it. Also she showed me how to work through my negative self talk to turn it into positive. So I will give it a go even though it’s going to be hard but I will practice.

I don’t think you’d really like to work with me.. I’m turning out to be quite a challenge! 😂

obviously I don’t like leaving my comfort zone but I have been trying. I’ve gone to events where I was comfortable going and I ask a guy from work if he and his wife wanted to do lunch! That’s pretty big. So I’m working through the social phobia stuff. Which is giving me a little more confidence. I just have to work out how to step out with the rest of it. I think that I keep trying but attempting new things.

Thank you @tyme

Not sure if you’ll get this but. I put on my referral to text I think but now I won’t be at work for a week calling would probably be easier

Re: I can’t cope

Just spoke to my old boss and he thinks work are trying to get rid of me.

Now I’m really scared

Re: I can’t cope

That's one big loud thought there @Captain24 - do you think so?

Is the catastrophising brain speaking very loudly. Even if it were the case, if you get your med letter, on what grounds can they 'get rid' of you?

Remember only recently you were being trained in another area because out of all people, they knew you could do it?
