Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Pixies been for a walk. I’ve got music playing. I’ve tried to do diamond art. She’s still not answering @tyme

Maybe send your friend a text message? @Captain24

Did you ever get that diamond painting of Pixie?

Re: I can’t cope

I msgd and she’s busy. That’s why she can’t answer. @tyme I’m shaking. Maybe I should go to bed.

I haven’t ordered it yet it’s in my cart. Just waiting on mum to send me the pic of Angel that she wants. I’d get abused if I got the pixie one and not an Angel one.

@Captain24 . This is the time I invite you to take control of your breath.

Breathe in for 4, hold for 3, then breathe out for 8. I used to struggle with breathing out for 8 until I was taught - Pretend you are breathing through a narrow straw.

Repeat this bout 4 times. It should lower your heart rate and reduce the flight/fight response.

You can do it.

Re: I can’t cope

Thank you @tyme. My heart rate is down to 95.

The shaking has eased. I’ve had a hot shower taking in the water on my body. But I’m still really scared. I’ve taken my

meds and was very careful.

The only thing left is to go to bed.

Re: I can’t cope

95!!! @Captain24 That's high! Like you've gone for a brisk walk!

Maybe that's something that needs to be address at your next appointment?

Once again, if you feel edgy etc, take control of your breath again. That is one tool you always have with you. But if you feel lightheaded - stop (it means your heart rate has dropped to quickly or too much).

I'm still here for another hour or so if you are not sleepy yet 🙂 I'm happy to talk to you.

Re: I can’t cope

Laying in bed @tyme it’s now at 86. It’s mostly on the high side but I put that down to being overweight, unfit and a smoker.

I’ll put the breathing in my toolbox! The blowing out for 8 is just like blowing into the breathalyser at work.

Im really anxious about the meeting with HR tomorrow so maybe that’s helping with my unsafeness.

Re: I can’t cope

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I know, HR has been very supportive of you in the past. You've spoken to HR before and they have done nothing but want to help you @Captain24 .

I cannot predict the future, but looking at the 'facts', maybe your brain is going into overdrive? Breathe....breathe.....

Do you have the Smiling Mind app? You can have a look at the 21-day sleep program. I found it extraordinarily helpful if I do it each night.

Re: I can’t cope

Yeah the boss above my boss has organised it @tyme. I even msgd him asking if they wanted to get rid of me. He was offended. Apparently it’s how they can better help me at work but it doesn’t stop my head twisting it.

I just downloaded the app. I’ll have a look at it.

Do you have plans for the next few days

Re: I can’t cope

Ahh! So there! @Captain24 - the brain is catastrophizing!

So now let's reign it in and make the meeting productive. Can you have a think about how you CAN be better supported in your work?

e.g. shift scheduling? (in line with your meds); shorter shifts?; chance for debriefs?

These are just a few of my thoughts. It doesn't mean these are your thoughts.

As for plans in the next few days, I'm trying to ensure the pool is ready for when it get hotter later in the week. I also want to spend more time with my nieces and nephews playing tech free games. I've taught them uno, so now I want to play other games with them. These were the games I played as a kid - I feel kids nowadays miss out on all of this.

I also want to go for lots of walks in the next few days. I really need to get back into a fitness routine.

What about you? Any plans for you over the next few days leading up to Christmas?
