Something’s not right

I can’t cope

I can’t cope

Hi. I’m new and have never been in anything like this before.
I’m really struggling with depression at the moment and just need a place to vent.
there is no reason as to why I feel this way. I just hate myself and feel like I’m an unworthy and useless person. I don’t have a partner or many friends. I feel like I keep pushing them away when I’m down. I’m just not worthy of them. I hate life and just wish I would go to sleep and not wake up. I feel so much emotional pain inside but numb at the same time. None of this makes any sense but it just how I feel.

Re: I can’t cope

@Captain24 you did a hard and brave thing reaching out to your team ❤️

And that sounds like a lovely evening. I'm going to do the same thing ❤️

Didn't do too much today @Captain24 - I did roll around for a sleep-in this morning...

Then I went to the shops but didn't get anything. Came back for lunch - paella, watched an episode of Bluey with my niece, and now I'm here 🙂

Did you manage a walk today?

Hi @tyme

Sounds like a cruisey day you had. Hope you enjoyed it.

I went for a walk this morning with Pixie and then again this afternoon with the nurse. We had our app walking and sitting outside.

Oh @Captain24 , the MH nurse visited? That's great to hear. Sorry, I've only just logged on so I haven't caught up with everything.

Did you find the visit helpful?

Re: I can’t cope

I called her this morning @tyme and we made an app for this afternoon. We walked around a couple of blocks near the hospital and then just sat outside. After talking she told me what I already knew. That I’m not ok. I have gone into a deep depression. I promised her I would stay safe over the weekend and call supports if I needed to. Otherwise I was being admitted. We chatted for and hr and a half. She asked a lot of questions especially around me looking after myself. I was completely honest with her.

Re: I can’t cope

I'm glad you were straight out honest with her @Captain24 - she seems like an amazing MH nurse that takes the time to help you. You are very fortunate to have someone like that.

So do you have the numbers at hand in case you need them? I do hear it is tough for you at the moment.

Re: I can’t cope

She has been fantastic @tyme. She told me today that we were in this together.

I do have the numbers. They are in my safety plan and saved into contacts on my phone.

It is really tough right now. I’m just not sure how to get myself out of it.

Re: I can’t cope

She sure does sound amazing @Captain24 - I'd encourage you to tell her so.

One thing I've learnt during my time in the MH system is that these workers don't often get 'thank you' and appreciation. I'm sure they get a lot of complaints.

I have always been incredibly thankful to my treating team... in a way, this probably made me easier to work with than many other people?

When I say thank you to them, it's not only for them, but also for me. I feel so much better when I have gratitude in my heart for the amazing work they do. I usually write them thankyou emails or letters.

A past case manager of mine loved nature and trees. I got him a fruit salad tree that grew 4 different fruits.

Of course I'm not saying you have to go to that extreme, but thanking people is really a healing for ourselves. Even if it is to write a letter of thanks for the amazing MH nurse today. I would be sooooo grateful to have someone like that if I was feeling very low.

It's not hard working in the industry.

No pressure. I'm just sharing something I have found helpful for me in the past.

Re: I can’t cope

I thank her and apologise constantly @tyme . She actually said I’m a pleasure to work with but she probably has to say that!

Re: I can’t cope

Nah, i don't think she HAD to say that @Captain24 .

My case manager was very open with me. He said he actually liked working with me ( I take that as truth). He then went on to say that there are some people he really DOESN'T like working with but he does it because it is his job.

We got on so well together. It made a world of difference to my recovery. And key to that was showing gratitude. It really does make their life so much easier.

I'm even thinking of it in my own work - it's hard working with people who complain about you all the time... a lot more pleasant to work with someone who shows gratitude. And as I said, gratitude goes both ways.

Actually, we have a few gratitude threads that I find very helpful when I'm feeling a bit low:

1) Daily Achievements!

2) GRATITUDE
