Chronic pain

Chronic pain

I have posted here a few times but today is a low point.

I spoke to my neurosurgeon (he is not the practitioner that made me like i am but one who i trust)this morning

I'm sure many of you have heard the phrase AS GOOD AS IT GETS

Well that's what I have been told this morning

So now I get to live a life of pain or make the decision to stop this pain

To be put in this situation by a member of the medical fraternity really urques me.if they had said I'd be worse after surgery I would never have had it .And the fact they take no responsibility for their actions really gives me the s##T's.

I really appreciate all the support I have recieved from you all and would like to thank you all

Re: Chronic pain

Hi @maddison

Thanks for tbe message and sorry for the late response.

I'm just taking each day at a time.

Just the pain is becoming intolerable and the only way to get relief is go into hospital and get drugged so much you might not as well br alive

So each day is a challenge but as I've explained to my partner I'm not sure how much longer I can do this .

The support is helpful and I appreciate it but it doesn't make the pain go away

Re: Chronic pain

  • I too have the same problem as you. I had surgery in February on all my tendons in my right foot as I was struggling to walk. 4 months on and I still cannot walk. I have severe pain that is 15 times worse than before surgery. I keep getting sent to physio and am up to the 4th one as nothing is helping me to walk again or get rid of the severe pain in my foot. I wish I never had the surgery now as at least painkillers numbed the pain I was in. Nothing works now and having pain for months has totally broken me. I had the police turn up today for a welfare check. I have told all of the medical staff I have seen the last few months that I cannot handle the pain anymore.

  • are you on a particular medication to make your pain tolerable? I keep getting told I can walk once the pain is under control.

Re: Chronic pain

Hi there sorry to hear your in so much pain also

It is very hard to deal with and doctors and physics tell you it will improve and I hope for you it does.

I'm on the highest dose opiods allowed plus max dose of nerve tabs and it eases the pain a bit but barely tolerable.

I'm off to another pain clinic when they triage my referall to see how urgent I am.

It's funny how they triage you without even talking to you but that's the system for you.

Just try and find something to try and keep your mind of the pain if you can I find it does help a little but like you I'm at the end of the line of being able to cope with the pain

Re: Chronic pain

I hope you get in to see the specialist soon @Former-Member . Is there a chance they schedule you in earlier if there is a cancellation?

In response to: Re: Chronic pain

Re: Chronic pain

They said if any cancellation the next person on the list does not take the spot.

It goes on who needs the treatment most which I suppose is good in on e way but not so if your not the one

But fingers crossed to get in earlier as I did tell them I'm not sure how much longer I can deal with it

Re: Chronic pain

Hi there hope you are all going okay.

Sorry for my extended absence but I've not been too flash.

Finally attended the Hunter pain clinic webinar now to wait for an appointment.

Not sure how long that takes but hoping it's sooner than later.

I am suffering from 2 herniated discs at the moment and no one wants to touch me because of the extensive amount of surgery I've already had and honestly I don't really want any surgery after the last round left me worse than I was before.

Any ways I hope you are all doing okay and I will try not to stay away for so long .we need to help each other
