Re: How to get your body clock back in order

Hi @Louise11

I struggle with this as well. But just recently I have started using my iphone and listening to meditation for sleep. I put my earphones on and before I know it I am feeling very sleepy and I fall to sleep.

Some medications can change sleeping patterns, the ones I am on currently are making me stay awake until much later than I would like.

I also think setting up a regular time for sleep is a good idea.

Hope this helps.

As @BlueBay mentioned setting up a regular time for going to bed and getting out of bed helps heaps. Also sticking to regular meal times if you can.
Because my work hours are weird I'm now working on a schedule of going to bed a set number of hours after finishing work. I'm not sure if it will work but I reckon it's worth trying out. If it's not effective and it won't always be I'll go back to the drawing board. Hugzzz @Louise11

@Kurra

I work with a lot of people living with severe mental health issues and sleep interuption is a common occurance.

Tips they have let me know are.

1. Set an alarm to get out of bed ( or at least open a curtain and get natural sunlight into your eyes it helps reset the body clock.)

2. Stop watching TV or Computers or other devices the "blue light that these use " do activate centres in the brain to keep you awake.

3.If you nit sleepy late at night and are tossing andturning dont fight it , get up do something relaxing , read a book, warm milk. if possible keep lights off or low if your reading.

4. Melatonin is a natural hormone that helps the yawning feeling. See you Dr to get a script of the good stuff its fairly cheap and IS NOT A SLEEPING PILL..The online stuff is usually not high enough in dosage / the same for 98% of " natural Supplement' companies.

5. Dont excercise to late in the day and dont have coffe after noon are also some tips to keep metabolism on track.

I hope that helps .

Nightly Nite..

I would also add to @Tight-Control's fine tips, whatever you do don't sleep through the day. That screwed me up for awhile.

Yeah @mrkotter that's my problem at times I sleep during the day. Must try to stop doing that.

Re: How to get your body clock back in order

Hi @Tight-Control and @mrkotter
Thanks for all the tips to reset the body clock.
I agree that sleeping throughout the day should be avoided and have followed this system most of my life.
Obviously when I'm working nights daytime sleeping is essential.

@ sad Girl.

To help down the road with self compassion . look up TED TALKs Dr Kristen Neff.. really insightfull.

I had my teendaughters watch it , as a 40 odd year old 'dad' I wasnt using the right language or words to get the idea across.BUt this vodeo and Neff's work is really great..I think its designed more the female mind , but I have found i t great..I also learned its not a learn and I will do , I revisit it so often I have even put it in my google calender as a reminder 1 every 2 months.

On an aside about post-it notes . My partner is a bit OCD when it comes to closing the wardrobe doors , I have notes on the inside of each door say " remember to shut me please" ..6 notes in all one per door..
