Looking back at old things

Looking back at old things

I did this and its my fault I know, but man, I wish I didn’t do that.
Looked through a bunch of old emails and messages from 2016/17/18 and bloody hell I was unwell.
I can’t believe how bad I was.
I feel sick with shame and guilt

I want erase that part (and pretty much everything prior to that) from my life time

I’m sorry to anyone who had to deal with me at my worst, I was an awful human being. I feel so ashamed.
Im so sorry. And there’s a bunch of people I can no longer contact and apologise to.
If they get an opportunity read this I want them to know I still feel bad to this today but nothing I ever said was personal, I knew no other way of coping but to use you as a target and I’m so sorry. So sorry. I’m sorry to the people I drove to breaking point, I wish I had known better

Re: Looking back at old things

I can relate, I almost never read old stuff I've written anywhere for that reason. If Bay52VU jogs a reminder of anything then IDK. But what I've been trying to do for 'cringe-attacks' or 'shame-attacks' is remind myself that today I'm doing my best, and stuff I'm unhappy with having done in the past is just a lesson for tomorrow (followed up by some kind of distraction so I'll have something else to think about).

Hey @ArraDreaming ,

You're self-reflection now, at a time when you are 'older' and 'wiser' really helps make you (and us) a better person.

There are things in my life I'm not pleased about, but the main thing is that we live and learn from them.

I admire you for your post,

tyme

Re: Looking back at old things

@ArraDreaming nah mate, it wasn't a misfortune at all. I used to like talking to you, and even after I'd left I would sometimes come back to see if there were any updates on how you (and some of the other old members) were doing. I always appreciated how you could share where you were at and be vulnerable about things going to shit, and felt privileged to have been a part of that in whatever way. So it definitely wasn't the super-negative impression you might think. Not by a long shot.

Re: Looking back at old things

Hi @ArraDreaming I can totally relate as both a Bipolar and alcoholic.

I was riddled with guilt for a long time. In the end you makes amends where you can. In some cases I wrote letters to those I could not. Thought about and implemented strategies for avoiding the same thing happening again. Then started living “clean” … really focussed doing things right and making good decisions - not introducing new reasons to feel guilty.

The above is a huge set of tasks. Confronting. I still get things really wrong from time to time. I’m still “evolving” in this space. But I can tell you that in my experience living a life with significantly less guilt has been very good for my mental health.

I wish you good luck on your journey…

Re: Looking back at old things

Great to see you @Delicatessen . You've raised such an important point @Delicatessen - do whatever it is to make amends. Guilt can really wear the person down. It's like this lingering burden.

And @ArraDreaming , you have come such a long way. And yes, different responsibilities can make a huge difference.

We are all 'evolving' in this space, as you said @Delicatessen . It doesn't mean we are perfect, so expect trips and falls. But it also means we can get up and keep going even when it gets tough.

Hang in there friends,

tyme

I am fine @tyme it’s just something that will linger in the back of my mind probably forever, I don’t think I can really forgive myself for it. I was a complete shit

head. I’d like to live in denial that I even existed on this earth pre 2020 but that’s complete bullshit.
I just had a really busy but really fun weekend away with the visited my partners family a few hours away and just did all the fun things
