Something’s not right

Not a great person to be around..

Not a great person to be around..

I'm distancing myself from family who are my only sources of social needs in my life. And that sucks. It's good they're in my life, but sometimes it would be nice to have a friend within earshot. I distance myself because I've come to realise I'm not a barrel of laughs to be around. So why put them through that. I've already put them through so much. And I'm not helping myself over the last year. I was not making connections with anyone in meetup groups or whatever so why bother? I have grown increasingly paranoid and anxious over this time and I'm worried that this is my life. I've never had a routine so learning that is tough. I've worked etc but out of work life it was kind of chaotic. Or isolated which is where I'm heading back to.

If anyone has found the secret to self love I'd like to know. I'm pretty much hating on myself at the moment. And have been for the last few months, maybe year/s. Becoming more agoraphobic because then people can't laugh at me or react like they've seen a freak. Basically avoid the spots I'm in at the shops. Or be less than welcoming like my dr. who I've stopped seeing for any feedback on my health.

Any help would be handy, even though I've posted before and just couldn't keep up a routine to check in on these forums. It always seems to be that I reach out in times of 'crisis', but not at times I'm able to push it all down.

cheers UT

@Krishna If I could pull off smiling in public, that would be amazing Krishna. I can remain a little focused. Then suddenly I'm not in control. They are. Family are good when I do see them. And I've shared quite a lot with them today. That actually felt good in a way.Good fortune tomorrow. That's great that you're trying something new. I hope it goes well and you enjoy it.

@Ugly_Trout

Yeah some people are very direct and blunt ... and it has pros and cons ... maybe find phrases that fit you better ... are not so extreme ... that they can bounce back on you ...

Most people have tried something to deal with feelings ... food .. shopping ... therapy ...lol ... we are still left with them ...

The forum has helped break down my isolation .... hope it works for you ... somehow feeling connected online ... maybe helped me give off better vibes ... idk ...

Thanks @Ugly_Trout I had a good day and now thinking how anxious I’ve been all week about “what might happen” was a waste of time and precious energy. I tend to catastrophise too often. Life long impairment due to bullying as a child. And yes smiling in public takes practice like anything worthwhile. Baby steps starting with what I like to call a Mona Lisa smile. Just a small knowing smile. I also like to imagine, when getting dressed for the day that I’m putting on armour that will deflect any bad vibes and surround myself in a bubble of non interference. Todays workshop was all about connecting with the heart and stepping out of the head. We’re all worthy of love and happiness and it has to be an inside job. Take good care and happy to read you connected with family 🙏
