Overwhelmed and uninspired

Overwhelmed and uninspired

Hi,

I am new here. I feel quite overwhelmed and uninspired to do anything I want to, and/or need to, do.

I don't know what to say. Or what anyone here could say. Other than maybe "I'm sorry" and "I read your post".

I kind of want to tell every one right now - White flag - ceasefire. Maybe surrender. Not quite. How I can imagine it looks like is give in to assessing other people's offered advice.

I just feel lost and trapped. I really want to yell out that its not fair.

What can I be responsible for? Heaps. There are lots of tasks to do.

I don't know how to break out of this cycle.

So, I guess, Cease-fire.

Hey @Former-Member,

What's not fair? Who is it that you feel attacked from and why do you feel attacked? Why do you feel overwhelmed and what is it in your life that inspires you? Do you have plans in your life to get inspired, small things such as a bushwalk, making a new garden, fixing a pushbike etc? Do you have big plans, such as travelling overseas?

I hear you but I am not going to say sorry for you as life is a gift, I can ask you lots of questions to help you get clarity, but you must be the one willing to walk the path to find the answers.

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

@Former-Member welcome to Sane. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed and uninspired. Feeling very overwhelmed can be quite taxing physically and mentally, so it makes a lot of sense to not feel motivated. It can feel as though you’re stuck in a loop. The enormous pressure of needing to do all the tasks adds to the feelings. It’s okay to take it moment by moment, day by day. It’s also okay to break tasks into small goals. We expect so much from ourselves and forget we are human. Even acknowledging our small achievements helps and taking extra care of ourselves goes a long way. Remember we are here to listen and support you ❤️. I hope in connection you find healing.

It's a big club Bastetha - welcome. One in 4 Australians feel like us. You've not mentioned who is helping you (GP, counsellor, etc) if anyone is.

We all need an ally and you now have plenty, so reach out.

Medication and speaking out have certainly helped me but I've a long way to go.

You are not alone !

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

Thank you @creative_writer . I appreciate your understanding and acceptance.

Well, since first posting I brushed my teeth, had some breakfast and water and took meds.

I guess those small things show I care for myself.

I also continued listening to an audiobook I haven't heard before.

On to music now, a kind of jazz band from Oz. Discovered them this morning from some one's playlist.

Trying to shift of of the rut, you know.

You take care too. Thank you again.

Have you got something nice planned for the day?

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

@Former-Member mental health struggles are real. Been fighting the battle for years. I just realised the words I said to you were also the words I had to be saying to myself. Uni work piling up has been stressful. Kind of makes you reflect on how compassionate we are to others, but when it comes to yourself we are the opposite.

Doing small things to take care of yourself is a good step in the right direction 👏🏻😊. Ohh jazz music sounds good, don’t know anything about it. I’m probably going to spend time with family, weekends are a good time to annoy them 😂. I’ve managed some uni stuff in with great difficulty, though I’m glade my migraine is a lot milder today. What about you, do you have much planned?

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

I'm glad your migraine is calmer today too then.

I've heard everyone has their own nuences, while still being a migraine.

For instance some people the impacts are stronger than others as well. No need to disclose.

Enjoy your weekend with family. Better not keep you from annoying them ;-).

Lots in your post to respond to. Might have to do another reply.

Take care.

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

Just been reading some of your thread @creative_writer on 'Feel like I'm drowning'.

I'm sorry to see how much stress, trauma responces, the migraine and being physically wiped out you've been.

It's a tough life living with trauma.

Never mind regrets or no 'closure'. Experiences unsaid, and which possibly never can be, with the 'right' person anyway.

I hear you on that. Got a few things I'd love to work through with the 'right' people.

Have you written down how you think the conversations might go? I've done it a few times and it's either freeing or allows more feelings through.

Just do what feels safe for you.

I know I can and do shut people down by intense quick reactions. It depends on the situation. Some find it comforting.

One of my problems ( from occasional outbursts when I feel trapped or over powered by ableist people) is

I react briefly but straight away, to acknowledge them in some way. It shuts down people from saying more.

Even simple things like

How are you?

Good thanks (automatic reply)

Oh good! Or Oh yeah? (Tell me more)

They tell me more.

Especially when they can't see me nodding, and I can't see them because we're on phone or chat,

I exclaim Yes! / Yes or Oh good (on you)! Or Oh No!

That intensity can shut people down from continuing.

Just before, from reading your experiences, I just threw out some things that were valid and understandable, but came from anger, feeling unheard, fear and resentment.

I feel a bit better. Maybe visitors will notice the change?

I'm lying on my seat. I'm tiring and need to lay down.

Take care.

Re: Overwhelmed and uninspired

Hi there @Former-Member ,

Welcome to the forums... I seem to sort of feel like I'm in one of your 'ceasefire' moods today. Don't really feel like doing much.

Procrastinating, even though work is piling. Then again, what @creative_writer mentions is great. Acknowledge even the small goals. So let's just say, today, I've sort of cleaned the house?

Nice speaking to you,

tyme
