@Bella07 hearing you about the difficulties of keeping friends when in the caring role.

Sometimes carer groups help but it is sad that awareness and compassion isn't more common and it doesn't need to be a formal group.

I have been in carer roles since being a kid....

Take care

Yes @Appleblossom it would be lovely if people showed a bit more compassion rather than judgement or frankly boredom or impatience. As if we wouldn't want things to change for our loved ones if it could. That's a long time to be a carer, thank you for sharing and I hope to see you in the forums more!

Hi @Shaz51 thank you for checking in!! I’m okay, need a good big rest over the weekend. My kid had a massive meltdown on Sunday night so it was a rough start to a busy week. She’s struggling watching her friends get on with their lives. How are you going?

Hi there,

I'm very new to this space and have a beautiful partner who is currently going through a severe bought of depression. The line of work he is in has left him with PTSD, and he got diagnosed with ADHD & AUD approx 5 years ago.

I'm currently looking at gaining some support and help in navigating being a support person for him, whilst at the same time being able to cope with how this is affecting our relationship. I'm a fairly resilient person, but it's now at a point where I'm beginning to struggle.

Could someone please point me in the right direction as to where I can go to from here? That would be much appreciated, thank you 🙂

Thank you for sharing a little about what's been going on for you @Kontessa87 .

You are certainly not alone in caring for your partner. It must be hard for him to go through this bout of depression. I can really stop one from living.

As a carer, it's important you have supports for yourself. Whilst we may be navigating supports for your loved one, your own mental health is of utmost importance.

Has he spoken to a professional about how he is feeling? Are there any professional supports in place for him?
