Hi, not new to these forums but new carer.

I have a 12-year-old boy with ADHD (combined) and 10-year-old ASD (lvl 2) and im just feeling like life has just been really challenging lately with all the therapies, going to appointments, dealing with behaviours.

Our boy also has generalised anxiety disorder and depression and its hard to walking on egg shells all the time with what we say and do so its not triggering.

The girl also has anxiety tied to her ASD and thats hard too.

Im just an anxious, tired mumma that doesnt know if she is doing it all right or wrong and hasnt really got any friends and my husband doesnt really understand (he has never had mental health challenges)

Have just found this forum and think I need it. Over the last decade or so I have been supporting people around me, and each time I think things have finally turned the corner another issue comes up. Started with elderly parents and severe carer burn out and simultaneously and continuing support formy son and his wife. More recently my daughter in law's behaviour has become extreme and I have learnt that my son is a victim of coercive control (a few more details on my recent post). I know I can't fix anything but I do need to look after me and my well being so will probably mostly use this forum for that from time to time. And mostly to reassure myself I am not alone.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a lovely, caring partner and a fantastic circle of friends many of whom have also cared for elderly parents and supported their children with mental health issues. They have been such a help to me. As I hope I have been to them. But at the moment I need more support than they can give.

Hi. I feel for you. I have only just found this forum and am looking for that reassurance that I'm not alone. The situation I am in with my son and his family has layers of complexity that make it completely unbelievable. And yet here we are. I have also just come off some intense years supporting elderly parents and have carers burn out as well. I don't have a huge amount to offer, other than that the shame isn't serving you or your daughter. Keep your friends because they are your lifeline. Find small moments of joy for yourself. Open up to friends in small ways about individual concerns. I only have one friend who has something approaching the full picture of what I am living with (she has has similar). I discuss small parts of the issues with other friends at times and between them they all give me the support they can. As I hope I do for them too.
