Struggling

Struggling

Struggling at the moment.

I'm experiencing a combination of depression and anxiety bringing up all sorts of negative memories. Mistakes I made and opportunities I failed to take up.

It's making me feel unwell, jittery, hopeless, painfully uncomfortable and unable to rest.

I'm not even sure I will post this but at least it gives me something to focus on in the moment.

I know other people have real problems. When I look at my life objectively I feel like a fraud. I'm weak and lazy.

Like why can't I just start doing something meaningful to relieve the anxiety?

Every little thing seems too hard, too much for me to handle.

I'm overwhelmed.

I have so many excuses to NOT participate in everyday life.

Yes I have diagnoses but I also receive ongoing treatment for them.

I should be doing better.

Re: Struggling

Hi @Paperdaisy I moved out to this little patch of bush 3 winters ago with the goal of living a sustainable life, close to nature.

At the time I was highly motivated, had the support of a carer, a few local contacts and a good relationship with the landowner.

Unfortunately each of these things has now fallen away.

My general level of dissatisfaction has probably increased more recently as a result of my visit to my daughter in WA, as well as the seemingly endless run of wet weather and the difficulties I've had simply accessing the property this year.

The question of whether I want to continue this lifestyle and if so, what adjustments I would make have been raised recently by my forum friends @perspective and @Dimity

At this stage everything is in the too hard basket and I am overcome by disappointment, despair and doubt in my ability to deal with the situation I find myself in.

Something's got to give though, but first to get myself out of bed...

Take care,

RedHorse 🌹🐴

Re: Struggling

It sounds like a beautiful idea but isolation can become hard after a while. Ah and the wet! It must be confronting having had a different experience recently and maybe some realisations.. now to deal with those.. it's tough. You have gotten out of bed before and you will again. We are here with you. It's a hard time but I know you have the ability to turn it around 💝

I wish there was more I could do @RedHorse

Thanks for listening @Paperdaisy

You helped just by interacting with me when I was at a particularly low point in the day.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your evening.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Hello @RedHorse and commiserations. The depression, the wet, the ugh leeches and lack of amenities must be really getting you down. I hope you can do some basics in the van if the camp kitchen and bathroom aren't working for you at the moment.

Are you in touch with your daughter and care team? Some real life support seems called for.

Is there somewhere in town you can escape to for a little while? A library, cafe or even the laundromat might do.

I'm trying to address some issues by drawing on a small inheritance to get back on track. It's scary because I'm having to face up to going it alone. I'm seeing my gp in a few days for a MHP, and today I've been arranging for a gardener/handyman and a support worker before the wheels fall off. It can only be short-term so I hope with their help I can turn things around.

On another note, how are you going with Wordle? I'm on a 35 day streak, my best so far.

Re: Struggling

I understand @RedHorse I would probably be in a similar position but I had very forgiving parents who wanted me to have a decent roof over my head. I live in their home. My sister did her best to make me homeless tho. Does living in a caravan qualify as homeless to the gov? Would you want public housing? Do you have a case worker? Must admit I’m quite the hermit myself .

Re: Struggling

Hi @Dimity sounds like life is a bit rough at the moment? Is it relationship based?

@Dimity sorry don’t mean to pry

Re: Struggling

Hi @perspective no problem. Thanks for asking. I'm largely estranged from family and my oldest friend has moved on. My only connections are virtual. I'm due for medical tests that aren't available unless you have a carer. Little thing scare me, like when the lighting safety switch just tripped and I had to isolate the problem in the dark. Reminder to self: get batteries.

I'm glad your parents had the compassion, wisdom and foresight to provide for you. Mine did too, but reluctantly - they said I didn't deserve an equal share.

SANE have turned off the support option in my threads. I'll have to ask if they've blocked me.

Pats to your doggo.

Re: Struggling

Thanks @dimty I guess I’m lucky there . My shrink used to ask me “things to be grateful for? “ . Yes very good parents
