Struggling

Struggling

Struggling at the moment.

I'm experiencing a combination of depression and anxiety bringing up all sorts of negative memories. Mistakes I made and opportunities I failed to take up.

It's making me feel unwell, jittery, hopeless, painfully uncomfortable and unable to rest.

I'm not even sure I will post this but at least it gives me something to focus on in the moment.

I know other people have real problems. When I look at my life objectively I feel like a fraud. I'm weak and lazy.

Like why can't I just start doing something meaningful to relieve the anxiety?

Every little thing seems too hard, too much for me to handle.

I'm overwhelmed.

I have so many excuses to NOT participate in everyday life.

Yes I have diagnoses but I also receive ongoing treatment for them.

I should be doing better.

Re: Struggling

I took the dog out to trentham today. Nice bush walk. I’m not sure that I feel any particular well being from it tho. Felt pretty tired when I got home. Got some melatonin from the chemist. I’ve had a zit breakout which is kind of embarrassing at my age but the masks do come in handy. I think my skin is starting to protest from lack of sleep. I have no doubt at 11 tonite I will be jumping out of my skin.

glad I got the dog out tho

Re: Struggling

A1 for effort @perspective. A bushwalk and a happy dog - well done. Hope the supplement helps you sleep. It didn't send me to sleep any earlier but I'd wake refreshed. I'm thinking of trying it again, at the higher dose my pdoc recommended.

I got my grocery shop done today, It's an effort sometimes, I need to do things differently.

How did you get on, @RedHorse ?

Re: Struggling

Well done on taking the dog out @perspective and on getting the grocery shopping done @Dimity

Hope your Tuesday was okay!

I ended up getting bogged yesterday on the way out to psychiatrist appointment, so no go there.

I have another medical appointment tomorrow, and don't know if I should even bother trying to get out.

I've already rescheduled it from last week due to bad weather. If it rains overnight or tomorrow I won't go.

Take care,

Re: Struggling

Getting bogged again is bad luck @RedHorse. Missing your appts is a problem and unfortunate when you'd put so much effort into arranging them. Is the ute still bogged or have you extricated it? Hopefully the rain will hold off for you.

I have a gp appt tomorrow and was quite taken aback at being sent an impersonal questionnaire this afternoon asking why I needed the appointment when I'd already told them when I made the appt.in the first place. Mostly predictive text and multiple choice so it felt highly restrictive. It also involved signing over my data to the company providing the software. I feel quite angry about it. I dread what they might ask for a MH consultation.

Re: Struggling

Thanks red horse, Dimity @Dimity , @RedHorse @tyme I just learnt how to do that. I’m interested in your mindfulness techniques if they work for you. I had a fantastic sleep last night , All is well with the world. Got my results from the doctor and I don’t have diabetes , my chest infection came up good on mri, they’ve put me on metformin for my weight. And a thyroid Med these are the results of a lifetime of meds. I don’t regret meds I had to take them . My dog went to the vet with a split nail and I took him to dog training and he was jumping out of his skin . He’s on anti inflams . I love dog training I think I like seeing my dog playing with other dogs it’s really beautiful and I like seeing my dog trainer . She’s very interesting and it’s nice to just talk about dogs.
I hope everyone has something they can value from tomorrow

Re: Struggling

I have to fill in a questionnaire before my GP appointment. They actually never mention it at my consultation.

Re: Struggling

Hope your appointment with the GP went okay @Dimity

That questionnaire sounds invasive and unsettling. I wonder if the GP mentioned it. Strange indeed.

Edited to add: I see @perspective fills one in too. Maybe not so strange after all.

I cancelled my appointment today for fear of getting bogged again now that I've got the ute back.

I just have to accept that the driveway is impassable and will be for some time.

On the plus side I have plenty of supplies from previous trips into town... something I am grateful for and value in my day thanks @perspective

Take care,

Re: Struggling

It's a worry that you're stranded atm @RedHorse so it's good you've got supplies. I wonder how long the rain and regional flooding will continue.

My gp appt was quite productive. They'd read the questionnaire so I was greeted first by the practice nurse and they'd worked out I was due for a flu shot and extra tests.

@perspective so good to hear things are better for you. Mindfulness practices that have worked for me include a yoga nidra app, meditation with a mantra, and breath prayers. I should get back to them.

Another week nearly over. Maybe tomorrow I'll achieve something.

Re: Struggling

Feeling kind of isolated with the weather and driveway situation, compounded by the lack of internet connection the last few days.

It seems that all I ever do is post to this thread to complain and I am sorry for it.

Not sure when I will be able to post again but wanted to say that I appreciate our interactions here @Dimity @perspective and other forum members passing through @tyme @Former-Member @Shaz51

Take care,

How weird I always feel a bit guilty about my posts being negative. It’s good we have a space to complain. @RedHorse
