Wellbeing Intentions

Wellbeing Intentions

Setting Intentions for the New Year with Wellbeing Goals ✨

It is the new year & thought we’d chat a bit about resolutions. Myself and other’s here have never been one to make a new year resolution as we find them unachievable, which can drive guilt and a sense of failure when we inevitably break them.

I know though, that for some they can be a great motivator or at least spur the concept of self reflection and prompt questions around what people want to perhaps spend more energy on.
This may identify things which may have been missing or hopes going into a new year cycle.

With this in mind, we do like the idea of setting wellbeing goals every day, all year round and I thought it might be nice to create a space to share these with each other.

So why don’t we start off the new year being kind and patient with ourselves and approach our mental health in a way that feels great for us each day, week or month.

Really, in whatever way works for you!

If you feel in any way pressured by NY resolutions, we have a reference that has been shared before in other wellbeing discussions by our lovely CG member @Shaz51 called - “8 Dimensions of Wellness”. (Link to discussion here if you’re interested in more info.)

This might just be a helpful diagram for anyone who would like to give a wellbeing goal / intention a go & is feeling stuck?

We would like to invite you to share 3 wellbeing goals or intentions that you may like to hold for yourself going into 2022.

I will start it off with mine.
Going into 2022 I would like to; ✨
1) Make more time for play 👩‍🎤👩‍🎨💃🛼🎨🎮
2) Appreciate moments of joy 🌸🪶🦋👣

3) Continue to learn new things 👁🦻✍️🎧

We’d really love to hear yours?! ✨

I would like to develop Metacognition skills and be aware of my thoughts and cognition

I hope to get back to basic Social interaction. Just things like lunches with my sisters

And also resolve health care gaps. To get back to more complete care

Re: Wellbeing Intentions

hello @Former-Member thanks for making this post my intentions/Goals for 2022 are a combination of two things well being including self care/Well Doing that is taking steps of action in achieving a variety of small and big goals this year the two ways that are helping to do this are one focusing on a mindfulness bedtime routine and taking time out as needed to just be ,but also having a balance of doing achieving goals everyday doesnt matter if its big goals or small goals as long as I achieve something everyday, keeping busy,it hasnt been perfect there have been dificulties along the way but working to complete goals is worth it in the long run , its teaching me perserverance and the wellbeing part is teaching a sense of serenity.self soothing focussing on solutions and not self sabotage so it feels like a good choice to be doing as well as being as I move through the days of 2022

Re: Wellbeing Intentions

Hi @Former-Member

It’s so lovely to hear from you - Happy New Year 💜

This is such a wonderful idea for a thread 💜 I really love the phrase ‘wellbeing goals’ as somehow it encourages us to think about our needs more wholistically and consider how we can balance achieving the goals that are important to us, with taking care of ourselves 🙂

Wow! These are wonderful goals and I really love how you shared that you’ll be making some more time to play 🙂

After a little bit of thought, the three wellbeing goals that I’ve decided to focus on are:

Creating a healthier sleep routine.

Participating in some professional development opportunities.

Addressing some of the emotional issues that are impacting my mental health and wellbeing.

Thank you so much again for creating such an inspiring thread 💜

Take kind and gentle care of yourself,

ShiningStar 💜

Re: Wellbeing Intentions

Hi @Molly22
I am right there with you on that 'loathed' feeling so I guess being able to see it more holistically, as you put it - has also been helpful for me too. 🙂
Thanks for being so open about those areas of your life you want more space for in your life.

Re: Wellbeing Intentions

@Former-Member - I'm a bit wary of setting intentions, as 2020 and 2021 made a mockery of the world's plans, I think. I wouldn't know where to begin setting wellbeing goals.
