Never ending

Never ending

I feel so down every day right now and cannot seem to bring myself out of this state. I at least managed to give my kids a good Christmas though which is good. We have all had to be covid tested due to a close contact testing positive on a rapid test and awaiting results. She feels so bad about it but I said to her it is what it is and not to feel bad and I really mean that.

Due to the general nature of what is happening right now have had to postpone my sister's 50th birthday trip due to covid and I may never get to take her as this situation just never seems to end. I feel so bad for her and I know it can't be helped but at the same time I am her sister. I know it is a non issue really but is just one more thing to pile up.
It is almost the end of another year and it looks like being another year of uncertainty and fear mongering in the new year. Just like last year. I know new year is a time of hope and promise for the year ahead but I am not feeling that. Right now I just really do not want to be here as nothing ever really changes. I still have ongoing health issues both physical and mental, still feel I can't relate to other people etc etc. Thank you for letting me vent.

Re: Never ending

Hi there @Lilly6

I’m sorry to hear how things are going right now & the hopelessness you’re feeling.

It’s important to be able to speak to others and reach out in these circumstances & really respect you doing that.

I don’t think you’re alone in feeling a lot of big feelings during this time period but I also acknowledge how hard it is for you in your situation.

Did you know that the helplines are still available if you feel like talking to someone would be helpful?

Lifeline: 13 11 14

Beyondblue: 1300 224 636

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

And of course 000 for emergency.

Sitting with you

Re: Never ending

I am riding this same journey with you. Although Christmas day was a happy day, the lead up was full of anxiety and stress, now I feel that I dont really want to be in this life anymore, its all too hard, lonely and dull. 2022 is so daunting and scary. My family dont really need me anymore except to stand between them and their father when tension arises and I cant do that for much longer before it tears me down. We can only hope that 2022 is better than the last year or 2.

My sister and my gp are all that is getting me through.

Hopefully you can find someone to talk to and support you as its a shit feeling being lonely.

We can do this xx

Re: Never ending

@Lilly6

It seems like things are hard for you at the moment and you are worried about what 2022 could bring. You sound like a very caring person, giving your children a good Christmas, caring about the feelings of your friend who tested positive, and feeling bad for your sister for postponing the trip. Like you forgive your friend for the unintended effects of her positive covid test, you can forgive yourself for the postponement of your trip for Covid reasons outside of your control. Now is the time to do some things to care for your own health, not just for you, but also because you need to recharge your batteries to be able to help those you care for. Find some little things that help you feel OK. It might not feel like you are doing much compared to all the big things going on, but these little bits of calm can help. 2022 might still have Covid uncertainties, and other stressors but there will be some good in it too, even if it may be hard to see.

Take care

Re: Never ending

Hi @EM26,

The holidays are a tough time for many of us and it helps to know we aren't alone in the hopelessness, so thank you for sharing here and supporting Lilly6 (as well as others).

It sounds like sometimes you live with thoughts of not wanting to be alive anymore. While i'm glad you have a couple of crucial supports, I know that sometimes it can be hard to talk honestly about how we're feeling.

I'm leaving the helplines here for you in case you feel like you could use an ear-

Lifeline: 13 11 14

Beyondblue: 1300 224 636

Suicide Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

Much care,

Sphinxly 🧡
