Starting to struggle

Starting to struggle

I was doing so well, my moods where manageable and now I feel like I'm losing control my anxiety is bad my flashbacks are more present, family are causing lots of stress and controlling me I don't know what to do, it all feels really to overwhelming.

I feel like my whole world is falling apart, my stress levels are high, my moods are always fluctuating, I have random anger outbursts, I'm isolating myself from nearly everyone.

My dad hasn't even really contacted me, I'm really upset, I feel like he doesn't care or even wants to give me a call to see how I am. His wife is really controlling and she tends to judge me. They want me to go to Christmas with them and I don't even want to see them.

I find this time of year is triggering.

Am safe

Sort of unsure how I'm feeling about the new year, I find it pretty overwhelming and upsetting. Nearly a year SI attempt free. *am safe*

Just wanting to be better and be able to achieve my goals.

Re: Starting to struggle

Hi @Fluttershy1 Happy New Year!
I've just read that you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed by the start of a new year. That's perfectly understandable considering the year that was just gone. I'm feeling a bit that way myself. Is there anybody you can talk to? I've learnt that if I voice my fears to someone, they often don't seem to be as scary or as upsetting to me once I've done that. Even a simple thing such as writing down what's on your mind on a piece of paper or even typing it up could also help. I'm taking it easy today by having the day at home, trying to relax by knitting a beanie and resting when I feel like it. I'm having trouble actually sleeping of late so just shutting my eyes often helps. I've also learnt that listening to a meditation exercise often helps me as well as I have to spend time focusing on my breath for instance and let the other things just be without me dealing with it. Maybe this is something you'd like to try?

My best advice would be to look after yourself and try and do something calming to relax yourself. There's a place on the forums called Re: Worry Room - Get it out, and walk away that forum members use to list what is in their minds and help sort themselves out which you might be interested in. Feel free to have a look at it and go from there. Other than that, be kind to yourself and try and look at the new year as a place to set new goals and explore new ideas in all areas of your life. Yes, it's scary, but so is everything when it's new. The best thing is you're living life and you're surviving which is the best thing ever. Never give up on yourself as you are brave and strong and you can do this!

Take care!
