Something’s not right

I can't handle this.

I can't handle this.

I am sore as hell from been knocked off my bike two weeks ago and I was in hospital for a bit. My bike a right off. I'm on pain kills but they aren't working well. Then yesterday we had to take our fur baby, British bulldog to the vet as she was really sick, turns out she at 3 half had kidney failure and died in my arms. she was so beautiful and helped me time and time again when I was in a dark place. She knew whe I was and would curl up beside me and just lay there. Every now and then would touch me with her paw to say it's all good dad I got your back. But now she is gone. I don't know.what to do. I'm a bloody mess. I'm worried my brain is going to say that's it I can't do this anymore and just shut down.

I'm really not sure what to say, would be awful to lose your friend. Try and surround yourself with friends and talk about how you feel. I know what it's like to feel like your brain is going to shut down but try and get some sun or outdoors and talk your feelings out with others. I wish there was something I could do to help.

Hi @bigt,

I'm one of the moderators on the SANE Forums. I'm so sorry to hear about your dear fur-baby. You must be absoutely devestated. And she was so young! Losing a member of your family like that just breaks your heart. I hope she has crossed the rainbow bridge and she's in a better place.

It sounds like you have so much going on with this as well as your accident. Physically and mentally bruised 😞

Who do you have around you for support?

I was a bit concerned when you said in your post that your brain is going to say that it can't do this anymore. Are you having thoughts of suicide?

If you are, there is always support available:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Otherwise, we'd love to be able to support you on here in whatever small capacity we can. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. It was really brave.

Re: I can't handle this.

I have my wife for support she is pretty onto it. And I message on here every now and then. That's it I'm a bit pig headed when it comes to talking about stuff. But it's not to bad on here.

Re: I can't handle this.

Hi @bigt, its no wonder your brain is in a fog at the moment with all the intense emotions, physical pain, limitations, pain and drugs in your system. I put a dog down last year, it was awful after 14yrs but I kept trying to be phylosophical about it "she was suffering an incurable and very old..." Lucky for me i till have her mate whose spoiled rotten. I don't know what to say to make it better accept acknowledge your pain and tell you you're not going mad and the brain, and body, are amazingly resilient. My brothers rode bikes, I've never met a bikie yet who wasn't resilient. You can get through this. Practically - do find a hobby, something to do with your hands (it helps the brain), drink plenty of water , eat vegies & salmon, and check in with your doctor regularly untill you pick up. There's no shame in it. Are you aware of 'The Stages of Grief & Loss' ? (google it later), these thoughts and ferlings are part of the process, command to man, you just have yo get through it.
There's a saying I like
"ALL THINGS PASS, EVEN GREAT PAIN"
Big hug!

Re: I can't handle this.

Sorry you lost your dog and had a double whammy to deal with. @bigt

Glad you got a good woman.

What kind of bike was it, mate?

Re: I can't handle this.

Triumph speedmaster mint condition. Took a year to find that one then only had it 6 months. Over 25 years of riding no problems then a rich snooty nose kid in his flash bmw on his phone took me out.
