Daily Check In Space

Daily Check In Space

Hi Friends, Family and Carers

Caring for loved ones living with complex mental health issues can be really challenging, and the carer's experience can often be overlooked and/or difficult to talk about day to day. We have created this space so that those feelings, challenges and accomplishments can be heard, and to promote carer's wellbeing and self-care.

To participate, here are 3 questions for your daily check in:

1) How are you feeling?

You can use a scale of 1-10 (1= really bad , 10= really good), if you would like to.

2) What is one thing you have struggled with, and one thing you have done well?

3) What is one nice thing you can do for yourself today?

You're welcome to check in daily, or how ever often you need to! Please just remember to be respectful and kind to each other as each of our experiences are so different.

Feel free to tag any carers you know in this space!

Hi @Determined

Thank you for reaching out here on the Forums!

It is great that you have some encouraging support around you you are remaining positive. These thoughts are not nice to sit with and talking to someone in the moment can be comforting. Please reach out to crisis supports if you ever need support or feel unsafe.

The Forums are always here to connect with your peers!

Thank you for being part of our community 😊

Take care,

RiverSeal

Re: Daily Check In Space

Thank you @RiverSeal I am safe.

To clarify it is my wife that I am concerned about 🥺,

The support here has been invaluable over time in supporting my family.

It helps to not have to carry burdens alone.

Some things can't be shared (or are harder to share) with friends or family out of sensitivity to our loved ones.

Hi @Determined

Great to hear you are safe and thank you for letting me know!

Concern for a loved one can be challenging too and please do seek support here for yourself. Family and friends are not always our go-to people for support about MH but your peers here on the Forums may share similar experiences.

Please share the burden by talking about it, it helps!

Take care 😊

Re: Daily Check In Space

@Leeanne I'm so sorry you're feeling that way. You don't have to the tutor if you don't want to. Is there something you could do for yourself if you stay home which can help you rest?

Have you called our drop-in line before @Leeanne? The number is 1800 187 263 if you'd like a bit more support?

And @Determined, looks like you're having a rough day too. Is there something you can pull out of your own toolbox? Or something you can want to share that you did well?
