Hello @BlueBay
{~1000 words - please read through this note slowly. The number of words does not mean that it is complicated.}
Everything that I describe in this post applies to both you @BlueBay and me @HenryX . The only difference is that I am a little further along the track than you, at this stage. That, of course, assumes that you decide that you are not comfortable with where you are at in your life, and then make the decision that you wish to make the journey to a better place. That will be with the assistance of a therapist. I would like to share that journey with you if you would be happy with me doing so. Remember please, that although I am a little ahead at this stage, I am older, therefore you have much more to gain over a longer period of time than I have. But I certainly do not be-grudge you that advantage, I would rather help you take advantage of any opportunity that you may have, to improve your life.
I am really pleased that you have responded to my post and I am pleased to have the opportunity to clarify what I have written. It is definitely no bother, I assure you. I will write what I think, but I will also be careful to respect you and others, especially those close to you.
At present you appear to have been upset by a report that apparently painted a fairly bleak picture of your present mental health situation. You said to @NatureLover that
"the results from my mental health questionnaire was very severe. Very severe depression, anxiety and complex ptsd."
It may be true to say that you really already had some idea of the situation. That would have been the reason for seeing the psychologist in any case.
The fact, at the moment, is that nothing has changed for you since yesterday, the day before or last week, or even a month ago, except that you have been presented, by the psychologist, a summary with information that will help you. All that information is what you gave to him. It is simply a word picture of yourself, that tells you in ways that are clear and unambiguous, especially to a therapist who can recognise the areas that may be able to be improved. If you know where you are coming from, which is what the report describes, you and other people who may be able to assist, are in a position to map a course from where you are, to where you may, if you wish, decide to go. This can all be accomplished through discussions (therapy). Obviously, I do not know if any medication will be offered to assist in this process, but sometimes it does help.
To go from one place to another we need certain information, such as:
A start point
A general idea of where we want to go.
A method of going there
A plan or map of the route. We may have to develop this, one stage at a time.
The resources {such as fuel, water and food if we were going on a car trip}
An idea of the possible barriers, risks, challenges that we are likely to meet and what we need to take with us so that we can deal with them.
A reasonable idea of our planned destination. This may become more clear as our journey proceeds. However, we do, at least want to have a general idea, because that is really the main reason for the trip or journey - the goal.
These headings and ideas, like the plan for a car trip, are just words that we are familiar with, to describe a journey. The details are added as we move forward. However, the map or plan may be more similar to a car rally, where clues are picked up as we progress through the checkpoints of the rally.
The journey, that I hope you will decide to take, is from where you are {which you have a clear idea of, as a result of the report}, to a better place in your self and in your life. And, to what extent we can in this format and forum, I would like to share that journey with you. Unless you would prefer to take the journey on your own, or with others, which is a choice for you to make. I will in future, refer to the people taking the journey as "we" or "you and I". The journey may be fairly long because, both you and I have quite a few issues to deal with. But, as long as we endeavour to maintain some stability in the rest of our day to day lives, I believe the journey will be interesting and challenging, although at times, to be open and honest, it may be quite difficult. I believe that we both have the internal resources to deal with all the steps.
It may seem challenging, but I believe, that I can guarantee that it will be worth it for you and your family.
What is our start point. Last week you were somewhere, but really did not have a way of describing where you were. This week, you are in a better position, because you have available to you an idea of your position or start point or location {the report}. The location of that start point is probably more clear to the psychologist than to you at this stage, but it is a start point.
There are a few different ways of going from where we are to where we may want to be.
Hey!! Wait a minute, we haven't even considered the idea yet, that we might want to stay just where we are, we know that it is a place that is familiar, it is not always comfortable but it is what we have come to know.
Then, I think, that is the first question that needs to be addressed. I have already answered that question and decided for myself a while back, that I wanted to be in a better place. Have you had enough time @BlueBay to make the decision that you would like to be internally, and in your life, in a better place?
Can we start from there? I am still happy to walk with you, if you are not yet ready to make that decision.
With Best Wishes
@HenryX
Note: Anything that I write, I am happy for anyone else, including a therapist, to see and about which they may wish to make comments or observations

Thank you
thank you
thank you @HenryX for explaining this to me in an easier way.
now I get it!!!
(hooray you say!!)
I do want a better life, a life easier financially. I want to be better physically and of course mentally.
I now understand why I am with this new psychologist who has an understanding of DBT. I've been chosen to have him as my therapist so he can help me and I will do what I need to do to get better.
snd yes I know that along the way I will have rocky roads and bumps and even detours (eg hospital stays) but with his guidance I will get back on track.
I need lots of wirk on self confidence because a lot of times I don't believe in myself.
thank you my awesome friend @HenryX
you are amazing in how you simplified this for me. Xxxx

Hello @BlueBay
I am delighted that you feel able to "see where you want to go".
You sound enthusiastic and it is, as I believe you understand, a worthwhile and special journey.
The fact that you have a person, the psychologist, who you believe is appropriate to act as a guide and mentor is wonderful.
My Very Best Wishes to You
@HenryX
