Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello to All Members

This is just a place where people can catch up with Henry and others,

ask or answer questions

have a 'chat and coffee',

an imaginary 'joy flight',

just 'hanging out in the hangar'

{cleaning, polishing and mechanical assistance always appreciated},

to talk about any subject that complies with guidelines, available here > Guidelines & Info <,

or whatever else we might consider appropriate and possible.

Everyone is Welcome.

With My Very Best Wishes

@HenryX

The following details are just for interest. Though I was not able to complete flying training, the most exhilarating experience I ever had, on my own, was my first solo training flight in a Cessna 172

I remember watching these beautiful planes {in other livery, paint and identification} landing on the Brisbane River when I was a boy. They looked like huge Pelicans as they glided down onto the river.

There was also a Catalina Flying Boat base

at Matilda Bay near the University of WA on the Swan River near Perth

Hello @Clawde, @Lilly6 , @Former-Member , @Emelia8 ,@Appleblossom , @Bunniekins , @TAB

and other visitors to this thread

@Clawde, I have taken the liberty of re-wording your question in order for me to feel able to appropriately respond to your question. My response must necessarily be qualified, in as much as my own experience and knowledge, is limited to that of Community Guide.

The re-worded question from @Clawde is stated as follows:

Only one question if it's OK to ask please? What is the difference in the role, expectation of, and requirements for interaction with other members of the forum, when speaking from different levels of classification within the forum structure.

How are those requirements reflected in the way that you can interact with others on the forum, in those different classification levels. Examples of categories or classification within the forum structure are;

Contributor, Senior Contributor, Community Guide, Community Elder, Moderator, and Peer Support Person.

Can you describe how responding to those expectations feels please? What is it like for you, how do you feel about it? Can you still talk with no rules, and no expectations? Anyone else want to share? Enlighten Clawde please feel free to type a response.

In answer to your question {assuming that I have restated your question correctly @Clawde , in the way that you might have intended}

The classifications of Casual contributor, Contributor and Senor Contributor are classifications of membership that require adherence to and compliance with the Guidelines & Info in order to become a member and continue to maintain membership of the forum.

In the role of Community Guide, members in this classification are expected to model the requirements and intent of the Guidelines & Info and act as assistants to other members, to welcome and assist new members to establish themselves on the forum, and to give encouragement and support to all members but especially to newer members. There are no restrictions in terms of styles of correspondence and communication with other members, beyond compliance with the Guidelines & Info.

However, the Community Guide role enables members to develop their skills and knowledge base, with the training provided for them, through the SANE website. That training allows the person to expand their knowledge and styles of personal interaction and knowledge of resources available to assist them in their roles within the forum as well as other community and service support roles.

Your question, about how one responds to those expectations, is probably subjective and depends on the specific experience and qualities of the person responding.

Much of what I experience, in the role of Community Guide, is very similar to that experienced in the role or classification of Senior Contributor.

For me, the majority of the interactions that I have would be rated as positive and very positive. Because of that, I very often have the reciprocally and mutually offered and received feelings of affirmation, support and encouragement that are a product of those positive interactions.

There have been times when the interaction with another member is less productive or positive and may even involve a sense of antagonism or other negative response. In such situations, I generally withdraw, with the hope that someone else may be able to offer the support required by that member.

There are rules and expectations to be adhered to in the role of Community Guide, that sometimes may seem to be restrictive. However, the rules and Guidelines & Info to which a member, at any level, complies, are generally acknowledged as those with which one would be expected to comply in other Community Support roles in the wider community.

As stated before, the majority of interactions are positive. Each of us, at any level or classification, inserts into the forum and community, their own particular style of communication. Just as is the case in our everday life, that style will suit some people and not others. I can say that I have gone to considerable lengths to establish and maintain some expressions of my own style in the forum, while endeavouring to the best of my ability to comply with the Guidelines & Info . This is because I believe that we do not all come out of boxes of the same size and colour. If we can establish, maintain and defend expressions of each of our own styles, then, as a group or collective, we can communicate, correspond with and serve the broadest possible cross-section, from the wider community, of qualified members and potential members who may need the resources offered and benefit from access to this forum community.

For classification levels above that of Community Guide, I am unfamiliar. Consequently, I would have to leave description of those roles and their interaction with members, to someone else.

I request that members ask if there are any other questions to which I can offer a response

With My Best Wishes

Hi @HenryX

How are you?
Not alot happening here. Grateful that it's not too hot.
I have some big changes in plan for the new year. I hope I can make those changes.

Hi @Clawde Just be yourself. Chat about whatever you like, as long as it's within the guidelines
We are all equal and no one is more important than anyone else. That's my view.

Sorry @HenryX From what I remember, you don't want this place to be about general chit chat. Not sure what to say, to be honest.

Hello @Former-Member ,

Please do not be concerned.

What you offer here is always pleasant and very well received. Your observations and comments, I believe, are reflections of a caring and nurturing personality. They are encouraging and uplifting to others as I hope that you feel the same in response to the observations and greetings from others here.

Hello @Former-Member , @Clawde , @Lilly6 , @Appleblossom , @Emelia8 , @Anastasia , @Eve7 , @jem80 , @Lise07 , @Bunniekins

I was amused when I noticed that you had reflected on it not being too hot @Former-Member . It has cooled down here to 35℃ ? at 5.45 PM from a top of 42℃ earlier today.

You have some changes planned for 2022, If we can help in supporting any of the changes from the forum, I believe that you will find all the support available, that we can offer from here.

With Best Wishes

@HenryX

Re: Henry's Landing Strip & Hangar

Hello @Former-Member ,

You have been able to make contact with a few of the people with whom I have also spoken during the previous year. Thank you for the "supports" to various posts that you have been able to look at. In fact it has almost, in a digital sense, been like walking with you and sharing some of the contacts and material in previous discussions and posts with various other forum members.

In about February of last year, I returned to the forum, having originally registered in 2015. When I first registered, I did not continue to be active, for reasons that I cannot remember. However, the last year in the forum has been interesting and, for the most part, enjoyable. There are some members with whom I have established a relatively close rapport, a few with whom I have felt less able to establish connections and others with whom I have sensed a significant and special type of companionship.

We each express ourselves in a range of ways and, I think, just as is evident in real life relationships, there is a process of sorting out our various links that can be developed, attributes through which we may connect and barriers, through which we might get to know ourselves and others better.

You and I, just like the majority of other members of the forum, face issues in our lives that are difficult and sometimes give us real cause to experience pain, anxiety and grief. Sometimes, in this fairly protected environment, we may feel that we can share some of that experience, and gain insight into how others deal with their experiences, that we may be able to apply in our own lives and circumstances. At other times, our interactions help us to bridge the difficulties that we face with more pleasant sharing of thoughts, ideas and references to places and connections that we can share. In this way, we can often feel a sense of soothing, that may even be difficult to attain in more personal and real life interactions.

There are some people with whom I have established very special connections on the forum. We cannot always be there at times that we might feel that we could appreciate or even need some support. But, we know that those people are relatively close by, and we can enjoy their company when we do connect again.

From what you have contributed already, I believe that I will be able to look forward to 'speaking' with you more in the future, if that is what you would also like.

With My Very Best Wishes

@HenryX
