The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

So sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment @Dimity

I hope your MHP comes through and you can get in to see your psychologist soon. In the meantime finding someone to support you in your decluttering efforts sounds positive. Well done on taking the initiative and thinking about the well-being of your cat.

Sitting with you my friend.

Take care,

Re: The magic of tidying

Thanks @RedHorse. Yes cat's wellbeing is a priority and I've had a sense of impending doom.

I hope your cleaning and tidying efforts before you left meant the van was more welcoming when you got back.

Have you had a lot of rain? My corner of suburbia has missed most of it.

Sorry for the late reply. I think I responded to you in another thread.

I hope your sense of doom has lifted and you are feeling more settled in yourself.

You might have meant Walking for Wellness @TAB @EternalFlower it gave me the encouragement I needed when I started walking regularly. The Walking for Wellbeing Thread seems to be an old one.

Today I cleared the top of the microwave and pulled some weeds, my first forays into the war on clutter for some time.

How are you coping in the confined space @TAB ? You and @RedHorse might be able to swap tips on van life.

Are you still reorganising @EternalFlower @Shaz51? How's it going?

I was going to declutter my wardrobe but looked at it and didn't feel like parting with anything. I didn't do the Marie Kondo thing of piling everything in the middle of the room and going through categories, maybe I needed to.

Re: The magic of tidying

Pool and cinema sound good @TAB . I've worn a track to the supermarket and that's about as far as I go.

You might be able to consolidate some boxes. I need to tackle some more and get books to an opshop

Sunday here so hardly any buses Might go for a long walk.
