The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

You were correct about waiting for motivation @Dimity

It's another day and motivation has not arrived but distress levels are going through the roof.

So far today, I've managed to get out of bed and move a few things around on the bench top.

Am trying to identify 'spot fires' but to be honest the entire caravan looks like a raging fire front to me.

I've realised that my ability to clear stuff out is limited by the lack of rubbish bins and services here and the relatively small size of my indoor living area.

I don't even want to think about the mess outside the caravan, where we will have to spend most of our time when brother and SIL arrive.

At least they will have their own caravan to find comfort in.

Arghhhh I'm such a hardcore procrastinator...

Time to put the phone down and do something/ anything to relieve this anxiety - perhaps clear the sink - number one spot fire identified.

Thanks for your ongoing support @Dimity

Take care,

All the best tackling each part @RedHorse . Set yourself small achievable goals - probably less overwhelming that way 😉

I had the same top in blue and green, I held them both to my body, one sparked joy one didn't?Either I prefer green or this whole thing is just how u feel in the moment, who knows

Thank u @RedHorse for Ur kind words

I do think Ur trying and doing well, that itself is an achievement 👏

Clutter and mess cause me tonnes of shame

I'm seeing as I declutter how much I hoard. A lot of anxious-attached keeping stuff. I feel somehow my stuff with help me. I struggle a lot with mess and hear u loud and clear, it is hard

Keep going @RedHorse Ur doing well
