The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

It's okay that tidying feels out of control right now @Dimity, you have so much going on... do you want to talk about it more at all? We are all here for you. 💛

@Dimity

It is easy to get overwhelmed with household tasks.

I am ignoring mine at the moment.

My hubby picks up some of the slack with the laundry and dishes.

@Oaktree Wow! What an amazing thing to do for others in need. Are you feeling okay afterwards?

oooh homemade spicy chicken nuggets?! Sign me up!

It's okay if things don't get done until the weekend - study is more than enough. What subjects are on this week? 🤩

Re: The magic of tidying

It's an effort to meet my housework goals at present. I'm highly stressed by family, legal, financial and health worries needing my attention. But I know that trying to get back to and maintain a routine is important, and it would feel good to tidy and declutter.

Re: The magic of tidying

My routine has crashed and I didn't even walk today, it was too wet. I'm persevering with the admin. Thank goodness for tidying. I got through a couple of hours of chores and will try to do a bit more this evening to regain a bit of control.

Re: The magic of tidying

Hey @Dimity it's so hard when things out of our control throw us off our routine. I also couldn't walk today because of the wet weather, but hearing that you were able to persevere with other tasks is great, and I'm hearing that it's also been a source of comfort
