The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

@NatureLover , hi! Nice to meet you too 😊. Today is a day for a playdatecwith the kids and then tackling my son's room. How about you?

Hi @Healandlove , how did you go with your son's room?

I am struggling with decluttering at the moment...I did about 45 minutes' worth of tidying yesterday including putting out the recycling, but that's all. I need to do more today.

@NatureLover , 45min is a lot! I'm glad you got through it. The playdate ended up being a 7hr visit with swimming included so by the time I got home I was too tired. Today I will do minimum as the focus is the Nye meal. I always hope by the 1st of the year my house would be the way I want it but never happens. I just need to remind myself this is a work in process.

Thanks, @Healandlove .

Yesterday I managed 2 hours and 45 minutes on the clutter on my lounge-room floor. Cleared away more than half of the stuff I was having to step / jump over. Was aiming for 3 hours but am still pleased. Also did laundry and put the recycling out.

Happy New Year to you all! 🙂

Sterling efforts @NatureLover . 45mins then 2hrs 45mins! I'm glad it made a difference.

I did about an hour yesterday but it was only maintenance stuff so quickly reverts. I'll see what I can do this afternoon.

I'll chime in with your New Year wishes - may it be a better year for us all @NatureLover @TAB @Healandlove @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Oaktree

Hello @Dimity since yesterday and today the moon has been in virgo so it sets the tone of the day. Virgo is great for cleaning and tidying your base camp, at least by astrology standards. When the moon is in virgo I just want to clean my space! I have to do my bathroom. Got most of the morning out of the way now so will do a bit of tidying of the vanity, shower, bath and w.c. I will be happy to have achieved that today. I hope the New Year is happy and prosperous for you! ❤️
