The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Hello @Former-Member @NatureLover @TAB @Oaktree @Shaz51 @scruffypuffball

Today I caught up with some of the cleaning... mainly floors and surfaces. I only did 1.5 hours so there's room for improvement, but I'm giving myself permission to feel tired and sore.

This week I'll try again for a bootload to go to the opshop - I only got halfway last week.

Well done @Dimity 🙂 1.5 hours is nothing to sneeze at. 👍

A bootload to the opp shop is nothing to sneeze at either.

Just threw out recyclables and my recycle bin is almost full to the brim. Had lots of cardboard from my drinking water cartons and almond milk tetra packs. Tossed out regular garbage so my kitchen tidy is empty. Threw out kitchen scraps into compost bin and cleaned and washed my kitchen scraps container.

Having a break now.

Next clean sink, wipe down kitchen surfaces and sweep the kitchen floor.

Will have order in the kitchen soon! lol

Am waiting for produce delivery from the permaculture farm.

The kitchen floor is now done. About to have lunch. Produce has been delivered.

Got to wipe down benchtops and do sink and stovetop but am feeling hot and bothered. Will get it done afterwards.

Have been working up a real sweat.

I have recycled 80% of our dvd collection. We just kept a few. Hubby wouldn’t let me touch the CD collection. I recycled some of my daughter’s folders and sorted out some of the bookshelves. Still have more to do with the bookshelves. I also took out the recycling from the kitchen and emptied the garbage. Going to clear and clean the kitchen bench. I need to bake some gingerbread. I am going to make a gingerbread house for Christmas.

I was going to do it a couple of weeks ago but then I got Covid.
