The magic of tidying

The magic of tidying

Decluttering and minimising. Taking control of house and garden, nurturing body and soul. I've read Marie Kondo and read a little on a related Swedish method and feel inspired. I've been a borderline hoarder and lived with depression for too long and want to take the initiative. Has anyone done this? Or is there anyone who'd like to try with me?

I've sorted my books and uni notes. I've decided to sell some furniture when lockdown lifts. But the other papers and STUFF in the house and the jungle outside have me beaten atm. Some mutual encouragement and support is the only thing that's going to get me through. I know I'll have to face some decisions like "will I ever use that fabric stash" or "how many books in the TBR ,pile is too many" or "where do I start in the kitchen". Boxing isn't the answer, it was a temporary reprieve.

It's going to be a contest between my commitment to getting sorted and the looming possibility of having to move and downsize for my health. Having control of my space will be a win in either the old space or a new one.

Setting goals. Celebrating achievements. Sharing life hacks. Is anyone on board?

Dimity.

Re: The magic of tidying

Take the keys back and say they did not work @TAB it must come with some kind of guarantee. Do you have the receipt still? I got keys cut a few years ago and noticed the keys were made of a lighter kind of metal compared to the old keys on this house. I thought they may have been flimsier but they worked. You should be entitled to get your money back on faulty workmanship

Re: The magic of tidying

Thats funny @TAB. Just in from a walk here. Downed some silica water and just had a sweet potato bite. Got to get around to cooking dinner soon. The silica has really improved my skin. Don't know what its doing for my bones, cartilage, hair and joints but am walking pretty fast now. Its amped up my energy. Checked online and it does boost athletic performance. I noticed that myself! Have lost another kg by watching carbs a bit more fastidiously. The diabetes educator wants me at 85kg - its a huge ask. Dunno if its achievable but still having a crack at it.

Re: The magic of tidying

Its pretty hard on this psych med that induces weight gain but I will do my best @TAB. What is the noom trial you mentioned? I presume its some kind of medical study? Yeah I read somewhere you no longer have to go to hospitals to do sleep studies which is good - you can do it in the comfort of your own home. I had sleep apnea for a while but it was due to overweight and alcohol in a tissue salt I was taking. So stopped taking the tissue salt. My GP wanted me to take a high blood pressure machine home to do a 24 hour test early last year (not a regular cuff that you typically check daily) My BP was high. Its no longer at high levels now I've trimmed down, using blood irradiation and daily walks

Re: The magic of tidying

Never heard of the noom trial using CBT @TAB it may just help you get your weight down, plus an added financial bonus. Yes the device - it was some kind of high blood pressure machine you take home from the GP used for 24hrs observation. Don't know what its called but thought I had reached the end of the line. I did not take home the machine but it was all the GP could offer. Was told by locum one evening in the dark of the night I was headed for heart attack or stroke treating me like I was another casual statistic. GPs said could wind up in nursing home in a vegetative state if I could not bring down my high blood pressure. Wasn't eating salt. Doing all the right things - genetic. Dad and brother had high blood pressure but I've seemed to have brought it down successfully

Re: The magic of tidying

Good luck with it. It will get you out of the house and you may even meet new people that stay with you as you journey through life @TAB I now weigh myself every day. I never used to have scales in the house - was just going to do chemist scales but GP and diabetes educator wanted me weighing myself every day. So I do it now without thinking. I thought it was a bit extreme but thats what was expected. TBH I have never heard anything about CBT and this noom study. I used to use CBT as part of keeping a mood diary. When does the study start?
